The Hoya 46mm Ultraviolet UV (C) Haze Filter is a wise initial investment. It helps protect your valuable investment from dust, moisture and scratches, which can lead to costly repairs. The "C" on the filter ring designates Hoya's thinner design for this filter. This filter has its UV properties in the multi-coating.The result is an average light transmission of over 97% giving sharp contrast and well balanced color. Hoya HMC filters are recommended for enhancing the performance of today's multicoated digital lenses.
Multicoated to minimize reflection at the filter surfaces which reduces flare and ghosting.

Reasonable priced Multi-Coated Filter from reputable Hoya. I purchased it for Panasonic HD camcorder HDC-TM700, it is slim and fits the lens well, on top of that I apply the lens hood comes with the camcorder, it looks very nice with this combination.
The Multi-Coated glass is excellent quality, the flash light is between the filter and lens, so I worry the reflection will ruins the picture, guess what? There is no difference between using flash or not, the picture quality looks the same (@14M resolution).
Just so you know, there is a tiny issue when using this combination, although not the filter's fault at all. On active O.I.S mode and pan fast, the two opposite direction corners will show dark area (the lens hood) briefly; on standard O.I.S mode, no issue at all. If the filter can be 0.1 mm thinner, that would be perfect. You may argue I should use a different lens hood, I agree that is why I give this a 5 starts.

Initially, I'd purchased a Tiffen HAZE-1 filter to reduce UV hase and protect my Panasonic Lumix 20mm MFT lens. To my disappointment, that filter had no multi coating and flared badly any time a bright light source got in front of the lens. I bought the Hoya as a replacement and although the flare is still there, it substantially less distracting than with the Tiffen.
The price was great and the build quality was good with a solid heft and solid seating on the lens.

Comments about Hoya 46mm Ultraviolet UV (C) Haze Multicoated Filter:
I've come to trust the Hoya multicoated filters - i use their UV filters on almost all my lenses to help keep them protected and clean (I spend a fair bit of time in muddy/wet/dirty environments). There's not a lot you can say about such a basic filter, except that it does the job, is affordable, and doesn't seem to have any negative impact on image quality. I'll keep buying them.

Comments about Hoya 46mm Ultraviolet UV (C) Haze Multicoated Filter:
I purchased two of these filters for my micro 4/3 lenses that have 46mm threads (14mm f2.5 and 25mm f1.4). I would say that there is virtually no discernible difference in optical quality between the Hoya UV MC and the more costly B+W MRC filters. The B+W MRC coatings my be only slightly better at limiting flare, but not much. If it's just to protect the lens this is a good inexpensive solution. If you are a pro and can afford the very best of the best lens protector, I would say stick with B+W. If, you are looking for a filter for the specific purpose of blocking UV rays, look no further. This Hoya MC placed first in a well known independent test of UV filters when it comes to actually blocking UV light besting many more expensive filters even those made by Hoya.

Comments about Hoya 46mm Ultraviolet UV (C) Haze Multicoated Filter:
My objectives were: a) reduce haze effects; b) reduce UV effect (I live at 7200'); protect the front surface of my lenses (ie investments). This filter accomplishes all of those.
Comments about Hoya 46mm Ultraviolet UV (C) Haze Multicoated Filter:
Title/Specifications are misleading and UV(c) is not the same as UV(0).
UV(0) blocks out most UV-A, UV-B and UV-C.
UV(c) only blocks out most UV-C.
