Ultrapod is a versatile tabletop-style tripod. It folds up to just 7.5" in length, weighs but 0.25 lb, and features a Touch Fastener strap which allows it to affix to irregular surfaces and objects.

I've owned one of these for over 20 years and I have recommended them to anyone who needs a ultralight weight, sturdy desktop tripod. The velcro strap is useful to secure it to railings, chairs, and even on occassion another tripod's leg (to get a couple of cameras on a group portrait. I have even used it with a Brunton Transit (compass) to do some impromptu surveying.
Over the years I have abused this thing unmercifully and it keeps on ticking. The plastic it is made of is sturdy and tough. And after 20 years the velcro is a bit ragged, but it still works great.
The only gripe is that with a long unbalanced lens you have to carefully position the legs to make it stable....

I selected this little tripod as a gift for my spouse on the strength of the good user reviews it has received. It didn't live up to my expectations. I should have known that a professional quality mini-tripod would have a higher price tag.
The head is a double ball clamp - a bit fiddly to get the camera set into the correct position and then to tighten it down without moving the camera. For a small DSLR with a medium WA lens, the little knob had to be really tightened hard to hold steady. Then it took pliers to release the screw from the camera body.
This tripod is probably fine for use with a lightweight digicam, but it's less than ideal for an SLR

The Ultra pod 2 is compact and light weight yet sturdy and easy to set up. My D3200 was secure on the mount as was the tripod with the surface it was on. The best feature is the simplicity. Great value for money.

This little guy is very well made. The ball joint head works well and is east and fast to adjust. Straps to objects really well with the built in velcro strap. The strap is a bit awkward to wind up. Overall, its pretty great, wouldn't go backpacking without it.

This is a great product as you can attach your camera to it and take a stroll in the woods using the Pedco as a holding and steading device for the camera when you need to take a quick shot of something. Much easier to use than just walking around holding the camera by itself.
The fact that you can just attach it to a limb or fencepost is just icing on the cake. My son got me interested in one of these as he has one that's 10 years old that he used when hiking part of the Appalachian Trail and he wouldn't be without it.

This a great little tripod for traveling with DSLR. It is small enough to fit in luggage but large and sturdy enough to trust your DSLR on it.

I often travel with only a small suitcase or backpack and this tripod is perfect for that. It is light but well made and can support the weight of a medium size DSLR (Nikon D90 with small lens) with no noticeable camera shake. This tripod is ideal for anyone looking for a very portable setup.

If you are looking for a small, portable tripod that also be used as a remote flash mount, this is it. It's great for just about all cameras, but not so much if you are adding an extended battery grip. I had to use it in a pinch recently when my second tripod "disappeared". I just set up my flash, connected it to the Ultrapod and used the Velcro to strap it to a near by beam. Easy set up, easy take down, and more importantly, it's light and easy to store. I think I just grabbed it from my car the day I go it and put it in a side pocket of my camera bag.
Probably the best spontaneous purchase I've made this year.

I haven't had the chance to use it much, but from my experiences so far, it seems to be a very handle little piece of equipment. The ball joint seems to be fairly strong, and can support my almost 5 pound set up fairly easily. It weighs almost nothing and will fit in pretty much any camera bag. Given its price, I think everyone should have one handy.

Bought this tripod for a cayoneering trip in Utah. Works great and is lightweight. Don't need to worry about getting it wet. Supports my Panasonic GH2 with 100mm Nikon lens and lens adaptor. Will take with me on extended travel next year.

Any serious travel tripod would beat the performance, but those are definitely a different league. This tripod is useful when you want to not be overwhelmed by carrying a ball-head, a tripod and a case. I brought it to Boston for walking all over and it worked perfectly. The ability to tie down to vertical posts is a very neat feature that beats any gorilla pod. The only problem I found is that it can have some trouble with heavier lenses like a Nikkor 70-300mm... but nothing that can't be fixed.

Comments about Pedco #2 Black:
This tripod is good for light cameras. I'm using it with an E-P2 and a Panasonic 20mm pancake, and it's sufficient for that, it would hold a long exposure shot, but you wouldn't want to put more weight than that on it.
It's all plastic, so it's really light, but that also means that it won't stay in place if there is too much weight on the lens.
The strap to attach it on anything seemed like a good idea, but it doesn't hold on anything, there is not enough grip.
So it's useful, but don't ask too much.

Great product.
Lightweight. Packs up small. Able to hold a mid-sized dslr reasonable steady.
As others have mentioned, it has the unique ability to act as a brace against your chest for walk-about photography.
Highly recommended.

I like this mini pod already.
The height and footprint are the best things about this pod. Everything seems adequate here for a compact. I have yet to try it with a full size camera but I think it will be up to the task.
Quality polymer frame and fittings..ball head is plastic but the double clincher design seems to be a good one. Ball head is not quick release and there is no landing pad -foam- on it but I dont see a need for it either.
Im glad I got this verses some of the aluminum frame models..it serves me fine and the design is classic and tested.

I have the ultapod 1 for a small point & shoot. I needed something for a Sony NEX-3 with an 18-200 lens that was small and light enough to take on camping and cycling trips, but still strong enough to hold the camera weight. The Ultapod 2 is versatile - I could use it to strap my camera to my handle bars to take pictures and even video while riding.

I am avid outdoors person and the scoutmaster for my son's troop so I am outside a lot. The day after I got this, the weather was great so I went on a hike and I set the Ultrapod 2 up a few times to play with it and I was very satisfied with it. The size is great for backpacking or if you just want to have a little tripod in your car. I would buy another one.

- Purchased tripod for a cycle touring trip and wanted something small & light yet still strong enough to support the 18-200mm lens.
- Had used original Ultrapod for years with a point & shoot with great results.
- Worked well. Was able to fit it in small camera bag and front handle bar bag along with camera.
- Was able to strap camera to bike handle to capture some video while riding.
- Had to arrange camera so lens was over main leg of tripod - then it was strong enough to support the camera & lens. It would have no problems supporting a smaller lens.
