Product Highlights
  • For 400f/2.8 IS (Ver. I, II,) 600f/4 IS (Ver.I,II) and 800 f/5.6 IS

This Wimberley Replacement Foot for Canon 600 f4 & 400 f2.8 and 800 f/5.6 IS takes the place of the tripod collar foot and converts the collar to Arca-style clamp capability without the need for additional quick release plates. Critical mass is reduced & the profile of the lenses are lowered, which makes them well suited to use with the Wimberley Sidekick when combined with Wimberley part #AP900. Every adapter plate is complete with both 3/8"-16 & 1/4"-20 holes to directly attach the lens directly to a monopod or tripod (without an Arca-style clamp) if desired. Drilled holes necessary to attach any of the flash brackets from Wimberley, Really Right Stuff & Kirk Enterprises are also incorporated into the design.

Each adapter comes complete with all the necessary hardware and tools to make the conversion, as well as retaining screws to prevent the lens from falling to the ground should you mistakenly unscrew the clamp.

Length: 6.5"
Weight: 0.43 lb
NOTE: This plate makes carrying the 600mm f/4 "IS" lens difficult if not attached to a tripod, monopod, etc.

Dual Safety Stops
The safety stops at the front & back of the Wimberley AP-602 replacement plate prohibit your lens from accidentally slipping out of the quick release adapter(easily removed with supplied hex wrench if desired).
Double-Dovetail Cross-Section
The Wimberley double-dovetail design allows attachment of their Shape Shifter flash bracket system to the upper or lower surface of the AP-602 plate.
Works with All Common Flash Brackets
Drilled holes accept flash arms from Kirk & Really Right Stuff
Combine with two Module 1 Quick Release Arms(B&H item code "WIM1") for a brilliant support base for using your long lens atop a beanbag
Dual 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 tapped holes for mounting to non-quick-release tripod heads & monopods

Comments about Wimberley Replacement Foot for Canon Long Telephoto Lenses:

The Wimberley replacement foot was easy to install on my Canon 600mm lens.
The camera/lens feels very secure and is a breeze to mount or dismount with the Arca type QR.

Comments about Wimberley Replacement Foot for Canon Long Telephoto Lenses:

It is great because weight balance comes closer to the gimbal, but attention, after mounting this you cant mount the original lens hood in reverse position for transportation. this is not a problem if a photographer this foot need close to the lens. i give only 4 stars because it is not to find in the description. for me i need the lens hood transport-position so i hed to buy another foot

Comments about Wimberley Replacement Foot for Canon Long Telephoto Lenses:

Big glass needs a sturdy mounting method and the Wimberly is my choice. Recently, I purchased the new Canon 200-400 with the built in 1.4 TC. It turns out that the mounting foot that is used has the exact hole pattern of the Canon 600mm prime. This replacement foot was perfect. The only suggestions I have are these two: 1) It would be nice if the space between the lens and this foot was a half inch or so greater so that it was easier to grab the lens by this foot when handling. 2) B&H should note that this foot works with the new Canon 200-400. I wasn't sure until I mounted it that it was the right hole pattern since the description did not specify.

Comments about Wimberley Replacement Foot for Canon Long Telephoto Lenses:

This replacement foot for the Canon 600mm f/4 is an essential item to mount to a Winberly or other ARCA-
Swiss quick-release system. The length give good range of travel for perfect balance in the gimbal. Strong and has option to mount accessory L-bracket for flash.
Note: you must remove the nice padded grip/foot from the 600 to mount this plate and its low-rise design prevents you from using it as a carrying handle.

Comments about Wimberley Replacement Foot for Canon Long Telephoto Lenses:

[...] recommended this when I bought the Wimberley Gimbal Mount. It replaces the existing "foot" on the 400mm f/2.8L lens, allowing it to sit lower in mount; It improves the center of gravity in the gimbal mount. You need some type of plate to mount the lens anyway, and this costs only a little bit more. It works well. I have not tested it with the other mount (didn't order it). The only drawback is the nice handle the original foot was for carrying the lens is now gone... but once I mount it to the tripod I leave it there until it's time to put the lens back in it's case. The lens feels solid and secure with this attachment.
