Wimberley has a system of flash bracket components that are modular, versatile and easily stowed in a small space when not in use. Known as the Shape-Shifter Modular Flash Bracket System, the components connect without tools. None of the combinations slip, twist or creep-even during intense action. They're integrated with the venerable Arca-Swiss type quick release system, now dominant as the industry standard for macro and telephoto shooting.
Module 4 is the most versatile element of the Shape-Shifter system. Dual ball-and-socket joints have a 1/4"-20 screw plaform on one and a connection for the other Shape-shifter components on the other. As with all of the Shape Shifter components, and unlike other manufactuerer's products, parts are captive to prevent detachment from accidentally unscrewing them too far while in the field. Overall dimensions are 6.5 x 1 x 1" (WxHxD) and the item weighs 0.70 lb.

Comments about Wimberley Module 4 M-4 Macro Extension Arm:
I use this with Wimberley flash bracket either as an extension to gain distance from the lens to prevent eye shine when photographing wildlife; or for flexiblilty with flash placement for macro shots. Overall I like the unit, however:
The large "wing nuts" used to tighten the swivels are plastic, and both have broken on my original unit so am buying a replacement. It did last 4 years, not so bad.
A word of advice to Wimberely: METAL

Great for setting the flash in a thousand positions for macro shots. I use it too for telephoto shots using flash to avoid red eyes in wildlife.

Comments about Wimberley Module 4 M-4 Macro Extension Arm:
Use to mount a 580ex on a RRS focusing rail, in addion to a 14ex ring flash on a mpe-65 lens. Allows adjustment for full 5x extension. Shoot 1/200 sec with that much light. Works great. Great Design.
