The Audix SCX1/HC Microphone is a versatile condenser microphone system featuring interchangeable capsules designed for vocal, general instrument and ambiance capturing applications. The SCX1/HC is also widely used as an interior boompole microphone with outstanding results. The Audix SCX1/HC features a hyper-cardioid polar pattern, which provides exceptional off-axis rejection that provides a narrow pick up area at the direct sections of the capsule. Transformerless circuitry and surface mount technology provide a compact profile and quiet signal response with a low noise floor. The sensitivity and wide frequency response make the microphone ideal for both vocals, guitar, strings, drums and percussion, overhead cymbals and more. The SCX1 has a high SPL rating of 130dB, to allow the capsule to accurately pick up transient (peaking) signal without noise caused by distortion overload.

Hyper-Cardioid Polar Pattern
The hyper-cardioid polar pattern provides maximum signal rejection at the off-axis sections of the microphone head. This provides a low noise floor and high gain-before-feedback response.
Modular Capsule Design
The SCX1/HC includes a hyper-cardioid capsule however an omnidirectional, omni-presence and cardioid capsules are available.
Surface Mount Technology
Surface mount technology provides a smaller, compact profile, making microphone placement and positioning quick and easy.

The SCX1 provides transformerless output circuitry resulting in high signal to noise ratio and high signal output.

        Comments about Audix SCX1/HC Microphone:

Coming from using a Rode NTG2 as a dialog mic for short films, the Audix SCX1/HC is an amazing upgrade. Compared to the NTG2, it's night and day. This mic captures clear, almost noise-free dialog. Really all I can say is "Wow!" It is the real deal for professional quality voice recording. I can't imagine that I'd ever need to replace this with anything else.

This is the first piece of video or audio hardware that's ever truly exceeded my high expectations!

          Comments about Audix SCX1/HC Microphone:

I've used this mic for about 5 years now and it's been amazing. I bought it as a cheaper alternative to the Schoeps CMC641 which I used in school. It is my go-to mic for interviews and indoor dialogue. I've never had any problems with it.

            Comments about Audix SCX1/HC Microphone:

After looking for a good dialogue mic on a budget I settled for the SCX-1. The mic delivers clear and rich dialogue and is especially good at picking up whispers and those quieter sounds that are essential to tight shots. The small profile of the mic makes it easy to squeeze into tight interior spaces which I've found especially handy.

On top of all this it looks sleek and comes in a nice wooden carry case. Great value for money and wouldn't hesitate to use it on a full feature film.

Got this mic to be a workhorse hypercardioid for interior dialogue. Very impressed with the clearity, low noise, and directionality. Honestly I anticipated a "good" mic but this exceeds expectations. This mic has top tier performance.

              Comments about Audix SCX1/HC Microphone:

I bought this after purchasing a Schoeps Colette Series Supercardioid Microphone Set and feeling underwhelmed for the sound to cost ratio.

But the SCX1 really sounds fantastic for the price, as good as the Schoeps in my estimation for recording interviews.

                  Comments about Audix SCX1/HC Microphone:

This is a GREAT little Mic. For years I've used Schoeps CMC641 mics for both interior and exterior voice recording for commercial film and video work. Voices are bright and accurate with very excellent noise rejection from the Audix. It acts very much like the Schoeps re: sensitivity and placement, but seems less prone to handling noise. Also, my Schoeps would fail with the slightest hint of humidity…while the Audix keeps on going. I honestly can recommend this mic as an incredible value when you consider how good it sounds. By the way, the two mics cut together nicely if you're interested.

We're using this mic primarily for promotional videos shot indoors, but it has also been used with great success on a web series for indoor dialogue. We use a Sound Devices MM-1 to power it. Great sound, good rejection of echoes in smaller spaces.

I purchased this mic as an indoor dialog capture mic, and I couldn't be happier with it. It's sound is detailed, there's no problem with noise, and it captures voice in an honest and accurate way. My previous experience with voice mics is with large diaphragm condensers in vocal booths. This mic will pair well with world-class mics.

I wanted a hypercardiod mic to my kit for dialogue in interiors mostly.

I read this was a poor mans Schoeps.

So far I'm impressed, especially for the price.
