          Comments about Kodak TXP #4164 4x5" 50 Sheets Tri-X Pan B&W Print Film (ISO-320):

I have tried every 4x5 you can currently buy, only TMAX comes close but just can do with this film can. Shoots from ISO 100 to 800 easy. Its all I use and I only dev in hc-110. Jock Sturges personally told he would stop shooting film if this goes away. I wont shoot anything but tri-x 320. Worth nothing 120/220 tri-x 400 is not the same thing, not even close.

            Comments about Kodak TXP #4164 4x5" 50 Sheets Tri-X Pan B&W Print Film (ISO-320):

My favorite film and one I've been using for over 40 years. Traditionally thought of as grainy, it is not an issue in 4X5 size. Great contrast and highlights. I've tried other films and none give me images that pop like Tri-X.

              Comments about Kodak TXP #4164 4x5" 50 Sheets Tri-X Pan B&W Print Film (ISO-320):

I love Tri-X, though periodically over the years I've been told it has been discontinued, is unavailable, etc. Then, it reappears again. It's maddening. It's my favorite film, though. Each time it's discontinued, I try another film; HP5, Delta 400, etc. Tri-X gives me the look I want; good contrast, fast speed so lighting isn't a problem, good highlights, etc.

I used Kodaks 320 TXP for still life's, portraits, landscapes, and etc. Comparable to 400TMAX you cant beat the price of this great film ... A difference in a degree of ISO against - $ .. Easy answer - Kodaks 320 TXP. I used a Imacon to scan these negatives but I also did so on an Epson 750 and yes there are differences but it still reproduced and scanned well on both!Cut your nails before you develop, easy scratches.. but thats with any 4x5 film. If you get light leaks, thats your own fault, Your holders.

One of the most lovely and versatile films ever made. It feels somewhat nostalgic now to open the yellow box. It is a taste of another era, it satisfies as few other films can. I enjoy always trying other films, learning how they respond to my methods, and adapting my methods to their nature. Yet I return to this film always at some point. This film is so dependable, works so well with shifting iso ratings, so many developers, methods of development, and printing applications. I have never had a bad box. It receives my highest praise.

The Kodak Tri-X Black and White film is virtually fool proof, you have to try to mess up a shot. With the quality and reliability you'd come to expect from Kodak films. Good solid negatives, producing great prints, doesn't matter if you print in the dark room or if you scan them, this is good film.

While I learned on 35mm film in the 90's, I never developed anything myself. Now, I'm getting back to film with large format, and doing my own developing. I chose this based on recommendations from others for a film that would be forgiving of variations in the process since I'm learning. Tri-X hasn't disappointed. I love the toanlity and lattitude in high contrast situations. The grain is invisible even when push processing.

A great film that I have been using for over 30 years and it's always been consistent, even through it's changes through the years. Never been disappointed with results. Sorry to hear that Kodak will no longer be making it. Will have to stock pile it now as I have'nt been able to find a suitable replacement.

I bought this film to use with an old 4x5 film camera. I was unsure about the availability of this film and was so happy to find that B&H still stocks this type.

Ansel Adams used this film extensively. For information on how to use it, consult his book: "The Negative". There are better films out there, I just haven't found any.

I really don't use any other brand. After being introduced to Kodak 400 and Kodak 320 black and white I absolutely love it. The picture quality is stunning and the grain is not even noticable even when printing on large scale. Some of my work has been ranging between 3 ft tall and 6ft tall and the photo quality is just amazing. All the tones are rich and beautiful.
As far as scanning I use a wetplate process and the image comes across accurately in the scan too.

I am shooting this film with Crown Graphic Special. The film is excellent. Useful ISO sensitivity for field camera with 1:4.7/135 lens. Great range of tones
