Auralex GRAMMA Sound Isolation Riser for De-Coupling a Combo Amp, Speaker or Subwoofer

B&H # AUG Mfr # GRAMMA
In Stock
Free Expedited Shipping
You Pay: $62.99

The GRAMMA Sound Isolation Riser (Gig & Recording Amplifier & Monitor Modulation Attenuator) is an incredibly effective device that's used to decouple a combo amp or loudspeaker from the floor, yielding nearly total acoustic sound isolation. The result in purity of tone is significant. An additional benefit is that the sound source, particularly a subwoofer, will no longer resonate through the floor to any space below. While it may still be heard, its effect will be severely diminished.

GRAMMA comes complete with a carrying handle, road-ready carpet, Studiofoam Wedges (underneath) and PlatFoam (underneath.) One to two GRAMMAs will support most amps, speaker cabinets, theater subwoofers and monitors. An optional GRAMMA gigbag is available.

Capacity Weight Limit: 300 lb (136.1 kg)
Dimension L x W x H 23 x 15 x 2.75" (58.42 x 38.1 x 7 cm)

Comments about Auralex GRAMMA Sound Isolation Riser:

I bought the Auralex Gramma to use with (under) my Bose L1 Compact PA system, which has a built-in sub woofer. Since I play an all solid wood classical guitar with an onboard pickup system, it can be susceptible to low end feedback, particularly on tile or concrete floors. Since I just received the Gramma a few days ago, I haven't even had a chance to use it on a gig. I did, however, test it at home on hardwood floors and it seems to improve the bass clarity a bit - I'll know better when I use it on a gig or two. I will say that the Gramma is impeccably made, very pro audio in quality, beautifully packaged in a cardboard box with a carry handle and it even has its OWN handle on the underside of the unit. Can't wait to use it in upcoming weeks.Great work, Auralex.

Comments about Auralex GRAMMA Sound Isolation Riser:

I am using this to isolate a KRK 10S subwoofer. I opted for the GRAMMA over the SubDude based solely on its slightly larger size. Other than that the two items are the same thing. Does a great job of tightening up the bass frequencies by taking the floor [hardwoods in my case] out of the equation. Solid contruction, and it even has a carry handle if you plan on using it for live sound.Cons: I totally got a cardboard cut on my finger when I opened it.

Comments about Auralex GRAMMA Sound Isolation Riser:

If you play on surfaces that are concrete or completely solid, then you probably won't find this makes a huge difference. However, if, like me and a lot of musicians, you play on a stage that isn't solid, you WILL hear a huge difference. Cheap stages resonate pretty bad, and this will keep that from happening.I play bass, so I rumble the heck out of stages. What is annoying is that it'll rattle the drummer's snare and any movable object on stage to make a nasty noise. When I slide this beast underneath, I get a clean throaty bass.I'll probably never play without this, as it also lifts the cabs up, bringing the sound closer to my ear. This helps keep my stage volume down, so the sound engineer can keep the levels just right for the crowd.for a cool $[$], easy solution to a big problem.

Comments about Auralex GRAMMA Sound Isolation Riser:

I have a High-End Boutique 1X12 combo that already sounded excellent sitting on the floor in my sound room on carpet! I knew that the carpet was working against the actual tone of my amp! The GRAMMA Sound Isolation Riser really smoothed out the overall frequency response of my amp but the most instantly noticeable improvement was how accurate and tight the bass response was with my combo amp sitting on it! WOWSER! The best $ I have ever spent in my 35 years of playing guitar!

Comments about Auralex GRAMMA Sound Isolation Riser:

Bought 3 for my theater system; Sub and left & right speakers (Martin Logans). My media room is upstairs and carpeted over wood so I had a lot of boominess. There was better clarity in my speakers but the main difference was with my sub. It was already a great sounding sub (Outlaw LFM-1 EX) but was a little loose and sometimes got boomy and muddy. The GRAMMA tightened up the bass and cleaned it up nicely. I am also a guitar player but haven't had a chance to test it with my Mesa Boogie but I have no doubt it will work great.

Comments about Auralex GRAMMA Sound Isolation Riser:

I use the GRAMMA under my Velodyne DLS-4000R subwoofer in an apartment with paper thin walls and it significantly reduces the sub sounds from vibrating everything and annoying the neighbors easier. The subwoofer is now clearer and is useable in an apartment setting. It will definitely decouple your sub (or whatever you put it under), but it is a little pricey for a carpeted piece of wood sitting on some simple foam. I'd buy it again, but I think it's overpriced.

Seems to work pretty well for my sub. When on the floor, the house "adds" extra sound to the bass. When on this pad, the bass is cleaner and more clear. Guess it works!
