I am a student taking a bw photo class and enjoy photography as a hobby. Rolling my own film is really fun and it can save money depending on how you roll your film. I tend to sometimes cut it at 5 to 10 shots because i only have time to shoot that much or i just really wanna develop them to see the results, if you do the math you will waste at least 1 and a half of a negative on each roll you make, so the longer the rolls, the more money you save. (install film in complete darkness to save the first two negatives, i think the max is ~38-40 depending on the size of the reel you use for development)

The only thing i don't like about this is that there is no way for you to tell how many negatives you have rolled, so i just use an old exposed/developed roll of film as reference to measure the exact amount of film needed in a roll, but would be nice if they devised a method to do so without using a machine.

I'm a big Ilford film nut, and love their stuff. I mostly use large format sheet film, and huge ULF rolls. This was my first time with their 35mm HP5+, although I've used HP5+ in their other films for years. Everything went as usual with respect to exposure, etc., except the base seems to have a purple cast, compared to all my other films that are clear. Fresh fixer, and fixed long enough, yes, I'm aware of all that, and still the purple exists. Maybe I got a bad batch, but it surely isn't making me want to try another [$] roll to find out. Never had any issues with any of their HP5, FP4, or delta films. 8x10, 4x5, 120, or 8"x100' rolls. This one is strange.

Comments about Ilford HP5 Plus 35mm Black and White Negative Film (100' Roll):

Love this film and the Ilford company. I want them to stay in business so I have switched to HP5 Plus and Delta 400 as their prices are much more economical than Kodak.

Comments about Ilford HP5 Plus 35mm Black and White Negative Film (100' Roll):

For the past 30 years I've enjoyed 35mm and 120 photography. Despite the convenience of digital, there's something more powerful, more romantic about the results of old-school B&W images. I've long been a fan of the Ilford products, the HP5 Plus film is no exception. I find it to render reliable, quality results and it is consistently a great value.

Comments about Ilford HP5 Plus 35mm Black and White Negative Film (100' Roll):

If you have used Ilford products before, then you are familiar with their quality and packaging, this film is no different. It is a go-to, no-brainer stock. This film doesn't need my praise and endorsement - you already know that you're going to get with Ilford; one of the last manufacturers committed to the exacting demands of anyone still shooting film. We shoot film because we want to, not out of necessity. Ilford knows that this bar is set dangerously high - their quality cannot waiver or vary from batch to batch, otherwise we would all switch to digital.

These days everyone take pic Digital camera
and Digital tech is more and more good quality in future
So negative and silver don't have to follow gooood quality like digital but have to find diffrent, nagavie's own character compare with Digital pic

If you use HP5 I think u can find black&white nega's diffrent feeling compare digital

Comments about Ilford HP5 Plus 35mm Black and White Negative Film (100' Roll):

This is a good film, that is quite reasonably priced per amount of frames you get. I am only rating this at 4 stars because it is not the best 400 speed out there on the market, but it is one of the most forgiving, and is quite reasonably priced.

I can consistently push this film a stop, and don't get too much grain in it either.

Comments about Ilford HP5 Plus 35mm Black and White Negative Film (100' Roll):

If you take lots of B&W you should invest in bulk film. It's the most economicalway to take pictures. I'm just a hobbyist but, still do film for the funof it.. Compare that with anyone. Of course, you have to have a bulk loader. But, even when you purchase that the price per roll is cheaper this way. Just make sure you have a film tab retriever to grab the tab and are able to pull the fillm out of the canister without damaging the canister so it's reusable.

Been shooting film again for a couple years, experimented with other films and this has won me over. Great contrast, very easy to work with in a home darkroom and consistent. Best yet, it comes in a 100' at an affordable price. Just started loading my own, so not sure how many rolls it will product, but I'm working on it.

HP5 is one of my favorites, but in bulk its even better! One of the few issues I have had with 35mm is the way it arches and curls. This comes from being tightly rolled in a cassette. If you roll it in bulk, there is almost no arching! The film lies almost as flat as 120mm film. This makes it a dream to scan! The film stays in the optimal focal plane of the scanner and produces super sharp images.

Comments about Ilford HP5 Plus 35mm Black and White Negative Film (100' Roll):

I have used this film for over thirty years, with the old HP5 in the late 1970's. I also use other films but when in doubt this is as fail safe as it gets. You cannot go wrong with this film in any camera. All situations are covered from careful fine art to hit or miss street photography with this film's image quality, subtle gray scale, and plenty of latitude for exposure error. Also pushes nicely to 1600 in Ilford Microphen if I get into a tough spot. If you are venturing into the photographic unknown this is the film to use. Kodak Tri-X also has the same versatility but I don't care for its rather dreary tonal scale that makes everything look like raw war footage or whatnot. Nor do I care for Kodak's disregard for it's customers in recent decades which is what made me try Ilford in the first place. It is a good thing I did.

Comments about Ilford HP5 Plus 35mm Black and White Negative Film (100' Roll):

This is the first roll of bulk film I've ever bought, but let me tell you something, I'm hooked for life to this film, I've tried other black and white films in the past, and HP5+ 400 just amazes me, due to it's versatility and it's level of contrast, great film great purchase and definitely buying more.

I switched to this from Kodak Tri X about 10 years ago. HP5 seems holding shadow details better than Tri X, at least with Heinrich Stockler two bath , D-76 or D-23 processing.

I ordered the wrong material. it did not list that it didn't come in rolls. I ordered it and accidentally exposed it. I'm in an intro photo class therefore I didn't know what I was looking for.

Comments about Ilford HP5 Plus 35mm Black and White Negative Film (100' Roll):

It's an accurate film which I've used for many years. The most attractive points is its unique grain, grainy but beautiful.
Other characters I like most is the push ability, perfect push to 800 or 1600, if it's processed properly, even hard to find the difference with the one exposed as 400.
It's always easy to process, and it's so comfortable with almost all the popular developers. Especially for the beginner, it really has a great tolerance to the temperature, water conditions and etc.

Loaded the film for a photography class. Hand processed and printed 8x10's from the film. The film performed well, even in dwindling light, and had very little noise. It is extremely versatile and works well in a wide range of lighting conditions. I will definately purchase again.
