This is one of a range of high precision ball & socket heads turned from solid aluminium alloy on the latest CNC machines, ensure superb quality of construction. Knurled aluminium knobs operate the unique locking mechanism ensuring positive locking and smooth operation of the ball joint. The most important feature of any ball & socket head is the diameter of the ball itself, which is directly related to the weight of camera it will carry, a factor which has played an important part in the design of Benbo Ball & Socket heads. A cork pad on the camera mounting plate ensures that cameras are safely fixed in position.

Comments about Benbo Compact Ball & Socket Head:

This could not keep up with a grip/body/70-200 2.8.

This is terrible for vertical shooting, the knob is in the wrong place.

17lbs.... not by a long shot but maybe I got a bad one?

Comments about Benbo Compact Ball & Socket Head:

      Would not hold a canon/grip/70-200 2.8

This thing boasts 17lbs but it couldn't keep up with my rig and as another reviewer said, the lock knob is in the wrong position for vertical shooting.

It very un natural for vertical shooting and I had to crank it way too tight to lock.

Maybe I got a bad one but this didn't get it done.

Comments about Benbo Compact Ball & Socket Head:

This tiny ball head will easily hold my K-5 with Bigma 50-500. The locking is smooth and despite the diminutive size of the locking knob, there's no need for tight-fisted strength-testing effort. Small complaints: 1) the notch for verticals is at 90 degrees to the lock knob - it would be better were it at 180 degrees (= on the opposite side of the ballhead body); 2) there's no rotating base, a problem only when the camera is turned to vertical.
