When I upgraded the ballhead on my tripod two years ago, I bought an Arca-type quick-release plate for my Nikon DSLR, but my 400-mm bazooka lens got "left behind." When I rang B&H, the helpful salesman suggested buying this new plate for the camera and putting the older one on the big lens. It all worked out great. I can now shoot lighthouses at a distance with confidence and this new plate is a sturdy accessory for my DSLR.

Standard Quick Relase Plate
Nothing special about this quick release plate beside that it has a lip so your camera doesn't rotate.

Comments about Acratech Quick Release Plate for Elan 7/7E:
Contrary to the advertising, this product does not fit the "Arca-Swiss" type quick release system. The tongue on this product that goes into the groove of an "Arca-Swiss" type quick release plate is way too thick and bulgy.
I'm very disappointed because otherwise it looks like a very capable and well-made product.

Comments about Acratech Quick Release Plate for Elan 7/7E:
I give it 5 stars because it works well and is of very quality, and should last indefinitely. When mounting it on the bottom of your camera be sure to determine the best configuration. For my camera (Canon 20d) I discovered I could mount it two different ways, but the plate's retaining ridge works best toward the rear edge of the camera, providing rotation-free performance. I have no qualms in recommending this product on the basis of performance and quality.

I used this for my Nikon D80, its well constructed and looks very sturdy. Don't have problems with rotation and it is holding pretty well on a Markins Traveller Ballhead
