I tend to be rough on stands as I mostly do location photography. So far, these stands have put up with the abuse I have put them through. They have a nice wide footprint too, which is very useful when I have my boom arm with strobe, med. softbox and 11lb counterweight. The don't wobble at all with this setup, and I feel safe that the rig won't come crashing down on the model or client. That's a plus.

This is a good stand for the money. There are better, higher quality stands out there but this works just fine for a standard studio strobe and medium sized soft box. I would not recommend using it as a background support or a boom support. All in all it is not a bad product.

These are great stands for the price. I don't think they will hold up quite as long as my avenger stands due to the plastic tightening knobs but they were way cheaper and I'm pretty easy on my gear so overall I'm happy.

i've had these as well as the air cushioned. I actually prefer these as they are quicker to pack up. Super strong, lightweight.

Needed a tall mic stand for binaural recordings of a large choral group. This is the perfect solution, as the 1/4" x 20 thread fits my mic system, and 12-13 ft height puts the pickup well above the piano, and picks up a good blend of voices.

I bought two of these for use on a home shoot. I wasn't looking to spend a lot on a 3 point light setup and this coupled with a couple other purchases gave me the look and feel of a professional set. I highly recommend

I purchased two of these light stands well over a year ago and have used them for several weddings since and also to hold up backdrops. The stands are well made, sleek, and easy to use. A key feature for me was the 1/4" 20 thread as I use these stands primarily to hold my off camera flashes at wedding receptions. The threading fits my Cactus v5 triggers as well as Pocket Wizard Flex TT5s. Not a lot of weight, but I have no worries that the flashes will fall off. One recommendation I would give for anyone using these for weddings, etc. Purchase some reflective tape (1" wide) to place on at least 1 of the legs. I found a roll at a local dept store, 2" wide for around [$]. I cut the strip down and put a 1" strip of the red/white reflective tape on one of the stand legs. I make sure that the leg with reflective tape is facing the aisle way for greater visibility. Still make sure to use common sense when placing stands. Keep them around perimeter of the room, against walls, etc. Or if placed in middle of room secure to a pillar with a bungee cord or other means to prevent getting knocked over. I am getting off topic. One other nice feature I found was that the center post can be dropped down to the ground allowing for greater stability (almost a 4th leg) and holding power for heavier equipment. I am now looking to buy another 1-2 of these stands to increase my usage of off camera flash. Good product. Highly recommend.

These stands have a wide base, are pretty durable and plenty of height for group shots. I don't think you could do much better for the cost. I own 3 that I use both in-studio and on-location, when time and space permit the use of studio strobes.

I use this stand for lights and in combination with a reflector holder. So far no problems. It's built well, feels solid, and is lightweight.

Puts my other stands to shame, nice and sturdy. Only complaint, I can't get low enough to the ground.

I recently bought 2 of these to use on location for portraiture. They are very sturdy, and VERY tall. The do exactly what they say.

Comments about Impact Heavy Duty Light Stand, Black - 13' (4m):
This is a sturdy stand, and I think it's well worth the money. However, a couple things to consider:
1) This is NOT air cushioned. Which is fine, as long as you KNOW it's not air cushioned. I have a couple other stands that are, and this one obviously behaves much differently when lowering a light with modifier. We've marked this stand so everyone remembers it's gonna drop fast.
2) I also have a couple of PCB 13' stands. Construction quality and durability seem to be very similar, but the PCB stand has a larger footprint (the diameter of the PCB footprint is approximately 8 inches larger). That makes this Impact stand good in tight spots, but it's bad for larger modifiers or when using a boom.

The quality and build of the stand was worth the price. It was sturdy when fully opened and the tube diameter seemed strong and stable at full extension.
I did return the stands and opted for the air cushioned version of the same stands.

Comments about Impact Heavy Duty Light Stand, Black - 13' (4m):
I purchased this stand along with another to evaluate for an elevated photography application with a 10 pounds or less camera setup. This stand was 1/2 the price of the other, but of similar construction. While I did appreciate the air-cushion feature of the other, this stand (with a top tube diameter of .985")had fatter telescoping sections and thus proved sturdier. It was also lighter by perhaps 1/2 pound. The plastic tube clamps hold very well, but cast aluminum clamps would make for a much stiffer stand.

I bought one of these to try out for location shooting. This is by far my favortie stand. Very heavy duty. Nice wide stance and very stable. I am here to buy two more. I am using Elinchrom styl 1200RX monolight heads on these and large beauty dish. No problem holding those up. For the price, you can't beat them.

This light stand was easily converted with a 1/4 to 5/8 threaded adapter. Worked great at about 13 feet with dual Rode NT 5 condensor mics attached. An inexpensive solution to overpriced auido stands.

Very Strong and stable stand. I use it for my Studio Lights and also to hold up my backgrounds. When it is fully opened, I really don't have to worry about the stand falling over. I just purchased 2 stands and will be ordering another 4 stands for my studio

I highly recommend this stand for normal weight items, if you are using very heavy items I wouldn't go too high with it and always have a sand bag or something heavy to help keep the light stand balanced.
