I wanted to find a way to to carry a small studio's worth of gear with me to location shoots. I already had a case to transport my lights, but I had been using several smaller bags for carrying other gear. It was a mess trying to load and unload gear, not to mention having to remember which bag had what. I needed a way to consolidate all that equipment.

The Multibag Transpac solved that problem. It's HUGE! It's actually two Transpacs in one. The upper half has many adjustable compartments and the cavernous lower half is great for long items such lightstands and umbrellas.

My Transpac holds 6 average sized lightstands, 4 speedrings, 2 large umbrellas, two panel frames (collapsed), 2 snoots, 3 softboxes (collapsed), cables, clamps, reflectors, and much more. Amazing!.

The only drawback is that all that gear weighs a ton. The case itself is very light when empty. But once fully loaded (depending on what you haul), it can be quite cumbersome to move around, especially if you're solo. So because of this, I have just a couple negative comments.

With all that gear, the halves get pretty heavy. Once loaded, however, there are no side handles to help you close the two halves. While there are loop handles that fold over the closed bag to help carry it, they are of no use when trying to close the bag. You have to go to the other side of the bag, lift from the bottom of that half, then hoist it over the other half; whereby it basically drops onto the lower portion. The zipper is also hard to close with a full bag which brings into question its durability.

The addition of side handles would also be useful when trying to load the pack in to a van or SUV. The end handles don't really help when loading the long case onto a vehicle's bed.

The wheels are just OK. There are only two wheels for dragging the case behind you (like luggage), but you still have the bulk of the weight on your hand. It would great if there were 4 caster wheels on one end so you could stand the case upright and wheel it across a floor.

Nonetheless, I recommend the case if you need to transport a large amount of gear and don't want to have a bunch of small cases to lug around.

The quality of this case is excellent and it looks great and professional. It holds a lot, but it's too big and heavy for a lot of situations. The case itself weighs about 25 pounds, throw in some monolights and accessories and you're approaching almost 60 pounds. That's before you add stands. If you always have two people I suppose it's okay, but its also really big. Even empty I had a hard time getting it into my car's back seat. Consider perhaps 2 of the Photoflex single or dual kit cases rather than 1 of these. Again, the quality is great, but too big and awkward.

I'm giving this 5 stars because it is very well priced for something that carries everything you need. The fact that it weighs a ton is because it fits everything you need. The nice thing about it is that it also doubles as a storage box for all of your lighting gear, not just for transportation.

Comments about Photoflex FV-MULTIBAG Transpac Multi Kit Case (Black):

This thing should come with a sherpa. It can hold a ton of equipment, but fully loaded weighs a ton, almost literally. I easily consolidate everything I need to take on the road into one case, but the handle/ strap should be redesigned to make it easier to carry up and down stairs. It is a beast, but very well made, I will definitely buy another when this one wears out which I don't forsee any time soon. It is attractive and easily configurable. Its a great solid case to transport everything you need and more... sherpa not included.

Comments about Photoflex FV-MULTIBAG Transpac Multi Kit Case (Black):

This is a huge bag so it holds a lot of gear and weighs a bit, but if you have a bunch of stuff to schlep around, it's perfect for organizing it and keeping it all together and minimizing trips to the car. It has a nice handle to make it relatively easy to load into the car and wheels so it's easy to move it from place to place. It has nice straps in the background/lighting stand compartment that are great for keeping things from banging around. The zipper is a bit hard to open and close because there's some play between the two halves of the case. Nothing serious.

This bag holds everything and can be quite heavy. The bag itself weighs 12kg. and when each side is packed to the brim, it can be quite heavy to open and close. Handles on the sides would really be a great help for opening and closing .. My worry now is the zipper and if it's going to give way in the next zip down. After closing the bag with all that weight, it's kinda hard to align the zippers. Right now, the bag weighs 45kg with all my equipment inside, I have cut down from 4 bags to one..

Comments about Photoflex FV-MULTIBAG Transpac Multi Kit Case (Black):

I use 4 Manfrotto 12 foot tall air cushioned light stands, 2 shorter "back light" stands and a whole bunch of gaffer equipment on field shoots with "off camera" strobes and both reflector and shoot through umbrellas when shooting in the field. Occasionally will throw in a monolight too. All of this equipment along with tripods, back drop poles, etc fit nicely in the back of my van but, you guessed it rattled around a bit.

Then there was the problem of moving all the equipment from the car to the shooting location. This case solved my problem.

It is big, well made and holds everything. Strobes, stands, umbrellas, monopods, snoots, and other light control hardware and lots of bungles all fit in this case with room to spare.

The red interior works like the Kata, "yellow" interiors to make your small gear easy to spot in the case in low light situations. the wheels make moving the case long distances a breeze. It holds a lot of heavy equipment but is well balanced making it a joy to move.

All of the zippers work well and there are some fast access pockets as well. The case has a carry handle on each end and a center "grab handle" as well.

This is professional equipment and your professional equipment needs to be in a case like this when you take it into the field.

However - it will not fit under your seat on in the overhead on an airplane. Make sure you have a Van or an SUV to haul it. It will not fit in the trunk of a compact car!

I needed a case in which I could pack & carry as much gear as possible without having to have multiple bags. After a bit of research, this case was the right choice for me. Yes, it's big, bulky, & a bit heavy; that's what I needed. It's the size and strength that matters. This case carries multiple strobes, stands, cables, etc...all very organized, padded, and protected inside a sturdy, outer shell. I like the fact that it now comes with a red interior - much easier to see small parts or cables. As my photo team grows, there is a good chance I'll get another case just like this one.

This product is fantastic, it has a very smooth glide when wheeled around. The case itself is sturdy as a rock.
The padded divider slots are both removable and adjustable. Enough space to store 4 or more electronic flash units, 4 or more light stands and a tripod.

The one and only flaw i see in this case is that there is no handle on the zipper side to pull the case open. a minor flaw in a already incredible piece of equipment, but it would be convenient.

This is a big bag, but I guess one wouldn't be considering it if didn't need the space.

The main reason to buy this case was to transport my Manfrotto 420Bs and 004Bs, as these are large stands and won't fit in smaller bags. They fit just as if the case was custom made.

Besides the four stands I use for main, fill and hair/kick, I also have a small stand for a background light as well as another one for a collapsible background; now I can transport in the same case four Alien Bees monolights with seven reflectors (four 7-inch, two 8.5-inch, and a "shovel" background reflector), a set of honeycomb grids for the reflectors, two medium softboxes with grids and other accesories, two medium umbrellas, AC cords, a small extension, six radio remote triggers (two transmitters and four transceivers), and there is still some space available.

I'm giving only 4 stars because the handles are a little bit awkward to use, as the top one needs to be maintained very high to keep the load on the wheels instead of on your body. Perhaps two handles in the position cargo carts have them would be a better solution (I may modify mine to add these next to the plastic runners in the bottom, just need to find a way to articulate them to prevent them from interfering when the case is sitting in a horizontal position).

This bag is perfect for my needs. I can carry all the microphones, stands, cables, and outboard for an 8 channel remote recording gig in this one bag, with the remaining Nagra recorder safely in a case over my shoulder. The complete rig, by myself, one trip!

A great huge case. Very nice zippered enclosed sections to secure your lights. The open half of the bag is massive and can hold all your stands, cords, modifiers, umbrellas, etc... An all in one carrying case for any shoot that isn't an enormous production. Definately will cover any wedding photographers needs, most environmental portraiture, corporate portraiture, and most architecture shoots. Measure your trunk if you are going to be moving this in your car. You will have to plan on folding your back seat down probably.

What a great bag for our light kit equipment. It is so nicely padded that all components are easily and safely stored in the bag with a safe ride to their final shooting destination. It is very easy to maneuver, up stairs and down. I don't know how we did without it.
Only thing not so great is that I am 5' and it is a little cumbersome for me. But others users find no problems.

I strictly work on location and looked a long time for a reasonably priced way to transport my lights, stands, wires and modifiers. I found it in this case. A big problem was finding a case that would hold my boom arm which has a min length of 47". I worked with this case for 5 years rolling it up and down stairs, off curbs etc. and the corner support on a roller wheel finally broke due to the plastic wearing down from dragging up cement stairs. Paid for itself a thousand times in not having to go back to the van a hundred times. The new one is of noticeably cheaper construction, however I think it will be just fine. At [$] bucks, it's a steal!

My theory was that with this bag I would never have to lift the whole thing, just roll it then slide it into the back of my SUV. So I prop it on the car and it rolled backward since there is nothing to stop it. It's sort of like the old rollers skates that didn't have stops on them. So the next time I tried to load it I put the flash heads in their separate bags and it was a little easier to handle without the extra weight. So even though my theory was to put a studio in a bag, it isn't going to happen and I don't want to hurt myself trying to catch with rolling bag again. Would I recommend it? Yes for strong men and women, no for everyone else.

The Transpac replaced an aging golf bag case as my lighting kit. It does hold it all. I have four heads with cables, Two large stands, two medium stands, a short stand, a boom arm for my light disc, four umbrellas and a soft box, honeycombs, clamps, gaff tape, wireless remotes. And there's still a little room left. The red interior makes it easy to find stuff. I would like to see handles on the upper half. It's hard to get a grip to flip it open or closed. Also, the tie-down straps have one short side with a ring, long side with velcro,Short side is too short and falls down under all the stands and must be dug out to use it. Mine came with a nick in one wheel so it sounds like a bad shopping cart when it rolls on a smooth surface. All told, its a very convenient way to store and transport ALL my lighting equipment.
