A tripod head is required and not included with these legs. Be sure you purchase a tripod head to attach to your camera.
The Manfrotto 475 is a workhorse with modernized features, in essence a much improved version of the venerable 3036. It can extend to over 6' tall, and the geared center column cannot lose height accidentally. The 475 maintains stability at all heights, and the innovative leg braces allow for both infinite leg spread & quick setup. A spirit level and convertible rubber/spike feet are included.
To avoid annoying delays in leveling the tripod, the telescopic center braces have been designed with two "click stop" positions that allow you to easily find the same spread angle on all three legs.

This tripod has proven to be sturdy, and flexible in it's use. It is great for everyday use in my field as a multimedia professional who has to remain mobile. It extends to about 7 feet high and works very well for capturing footage that is over looking a subject. Construction is nice and it seems like this unit can take some punishment. Though a bit too heavy for travel in my opinion, it is actually fairly light compared to other tripods in it's class.
I would recommend this tripod, and will be purchasing another one shortly.

Comments about Manfrotto 475B Professional Tripod Legs (Black) - Supports 26.5 lbs (12kg):
I needed some tripod legs that would extend tall enough for me to get above the audience heads without me using the pedestal extended. These legs are perfect for that and if I were to use the pedestal it's really sturdy so wouldn't get much vibration and is really tall. I'm 6' Tall and this is a perfect size for me. With the legs in medium spread and the pedestal down it's about 72" tall max height and with the pedestal up it's about 82" tall max height. The construction is built sturdy and adjustments are easy! It's not the lightest tripod but very durable and steady. I paired this with the Manfrotto 502HD head and the Manfrotto MAMBAG120PN padded bag and while I didn't want to spend this much and wish it could have been less cost, I'm really happy with the quality of everything and feel it was worth the money I spent!

Comments about Manfrotto 475B Professional Tripod Legs (Black) - Supports 26.5 lbs (12kg):
I use these legs with the 502 video head for shooting still and video with a 5D MkII. The only minor gripe with that set up is the lack of ability to quickly level the camera when changing locations, but it's very minor.
These legs are extremely stable and I don't find them too heavy to move around in my orchard photo/video work. I wouldn't want to backpack with them though. They are infinately adjustable and can be locked solidly into any postition including well over my 5' 10" height. The center column remains stabile when raised, even to it's maximum which is ideal in our windy conditions.
They just don't get better than these legs for bedrock stability.

I've tried those light weight tripods and don't like them. I've owned a 475B for 5 years and liked it until the levers that tighten the legs began to crack - essentially - destoying their ability to do the job. No problem - I ran the tripod over to a camera repair shop to find out that the replacement parts are no longer available. They have changed the design, hopefully it will be better. Like a succor I bought the new one because I like the other 95% of the tripod and didn't have time to spend hours shopping for something that might be better. It's not light, but if you are not a wimp you can handle it. I've spent hours with my camera on the tripod slung over my shoulder hiking through the woods of Idaho and Utah. It's done a great job for me.

These legs were my attempt to overcome the slight wobble I get in my 190proB legs. They are rock solid and great for macros, portraits or anything where they don't have to be moved quickly. Heavy of course because they're huge, but that's expected and add to their stability. I'm very happy these legs.

These tripod legs are the real deal. Solid construction all around, built like a tank, and just all around professional. It is aluminum, but you will like the construction. I mean look at the load capacity! I don't think you can get a better load capacity for the price. I hold a Canon 5DmkII, a TelePrompTer unit, and a tripod head all on these legs. At no point have I been worried about the leg joints slipping or failing on me. It's a quality piece of equipment.

I use my tripod to film bmx and motocross so I need something fairly mobile and this tripod works perfectly. People say it's too heavy, but even for a scrawny white boy like me it's not difficult to carry around all day. Holds up to wind perfectly fine. The leg spreaders. Don't like to stay tight but its not a problem that should make you second guess your purchase.

In the two weeks I've had it I've used it to shoot both real estate and products, and it has been nothing short of brilliant for both applications. Incredibly strong and sturdy with an ability to go very high, which makes it perfet for real estate/architectural work. Very happy with this product.

I bought this tripod when I had to shoot stained glass windows in a 100+ y/o church for a calendar. I already had a Bogen 3068 that would hold up to 39lbs, but needed something with the additional height. At full extension, this tripod with a 3047 head held a Fuji GW670III rock steady through the exposures needed to capture the image. This and an old Gitzo Reporter now live in my car and are my standard tripods. Heavy, yes, but extremely sturdy. Highly recommended!

Solid, heavy construction. Not a tripod you'd want to have to lug any great distance, but fantastic when you need the stability.
Mostly for field use, static shots. Have the 222 Joystick Head mounted so that takes care of leveling, rather than having to mess around with the leg length.
