      Perfect for the M8 + cv 21

This is a perfect match for the little Voigtlander 21mm on the M8, which has the fov of a 28mm lens after the 1.3x crop.

I use the 28mm viewfinder on a Canon Powershot G11 to improve on it as a street camera. With a viewfinder positioned 2" above the lens center, it is inaccurate in close encounters, but from 1.5m/5ft it frames accurately, though with some fisheye distortion - certainly covers much better than the tiny built-in viewfinder in the G11. It has a very solid Germanic quality and the viewing area is bright and sharp (extends the 28mm which are marked by brightlines). An important issue is the lack of a hot shoe lock to keep it firmly in place. The foot is a solid cast aluminium, and it does tend to slide out of the socket (of the G11) when I'm not looking - I feel it's only a matter of time before I lose it in the field. (For comparison, it rests much more securely in my Nikon DSLR's socket, so might go better with other brand compacts). Bottom line is it does work to upgrade my camera as a rangefinder-style 'street camera', but exercise caution or you'll lose it.

Comments about Viewfinder for 28mm (Black):

I bought this to use with the new Ricoh GR (with the APS-C sensor) and it works great. Fits on the hot shoe nice and snugly, is not too big, and frames accurately.

I went with this over the ones Ricoh sells based on reviews that it's brighter and more accurate, since the Ricoh ones are offset to allow the flash to pop up. But this Voigtlander doesn't block the flash, either (at least physically—haven't tried it to see if it blocks the actual light—seem like it might do that).

It is a little heavy though and makes the camera a little less easy to put in your pocket. But sometimes I can't see the Ricoh's LCD very well, and need a VF, so for me it's worth it to have the extra weight most of the time. And if not, I just take it off.

I use this with a Sony RX1. The viewfinder and small and well made. It feels a little heavier than I was expecting. The image is bright and clear. There is no distortion. Eye relief is a little on the short side and the frame just fits the field of view. But given the cost, it is a really nice viewfinder.

Comments about Viewfinder for 28mm (Black):

I needed a 28mm viewfinder for my M6ttl .85 since it does't have 28 frame lines. I found several made by Leica, but they were all plastic. One seller actually broke the finder trying to put it on the camera. They were way too fragile!!

This Voigtlander finder is perfect. The all metal construction and high quality optics are exactly what I was looking for.

This is a bright, high-quality finder. It has just enough eye relief that I could use it with glasses on. It's also very compact and allows the GF1 flash to open easily, and does not protrude behind the camera. The finder does have some distortion, but I was aware of this in advance and it doesn't detract from it's use. Also, this looks at home on the GF1, I'm planning to use it alot with the new 14mm prime.

Comments about Viewfinder for 28mm (Black):

I use this viewfinder in combination with a Sigma DP1s and HA-11 hood. My first copy of this viewfinder had crooked framelines, but [...] my new copy is perfect!I mainly use this product so that i don't have to rely on the back LCD screen in bright sunlight. I also use it to frame the shot when using an R72 filter. On the DP1s, the viewfinder sits pretty far forward, so your nose will probably end up touching the screen. Fortunately, you don't need to have your eyeball inside the thing to see the framelines.Another issue is distortion. If you try to frame things perfectly, you will probably have a hard time, as the distortion of this viewfinder is much higher than that of the lens in the DP1s. My suggestion is to go with your gut reaction for framing and take the shot. Also, keep in mind that the camera seems to pick up a little bit more than the framelines suggest, but you'll have to see for yourself.Overall, i recommend this viewfinder. It's not absolutely needed, but it's so nice to have a real viewfinder on a digital P&S.

This is a precision piece of optics as one would expect...I got it to use in the shoe on my Panasonic Lumix LX-3 which lacks a see-through viewfinder. Although a bit pricey, it does the job nicely for the wide-angle end of the focal range of the LX-3 lens.

I use this on my panasonic LX-3 as an external finder. It does not have a marked center point and even if it did there is parallex problems at close range, but if you use it a little you will learn how to compensate. This is best used when you want to pre-focus at a smaller f-stop on manual focus, then just pull up and shoot. Framing is pretty close. Its for a 28, and the LX-3 is a 24, but its close. I find it useful.
I was not willing to wait for the panasonic one, besides they will be black and my camera is silver.
