Product Highlights
  • For 1/8" (3.5 mm) Sennheiser Transmitter
  • Positive Bias
  • Omnidirectional Polar Pattern
  • Black

The Tram TR50 is a professional omnidirectional electret condenser lavalier microphone with a low-profile design resulting in low visibility. The TR50 features a frequency response that enhances the character and frequencies associated with speech.

The polar pattern provides a generous pick up response at the direct and off-axis sections of the microphone capsule. This enhances sensitivity and minimizes noise associated with movement, wind and clothing contact. The TR50 features minimum sound coloration and is available in a variety of connectors for direct integration with wireless transmitters. This version features a 1/8" (3.5mm) connection for use with Sennheiser EW wireless transmitters.

The TR50 is powered by your Sennheiser EW transmitter, but can also be hard-wired with the assistance of the TR79 power supply, not included. The TR79 accepts external Phantom power or uses internal battery power.

I am a professional videographer doing weddings, conferences, events, short films, etc. I use these on a regular basis with my Sennheiser wireless kits. I have attached a photo showing a comaprison of the TR-50 to the Sennheiser ME2 and Rode smartLav+. All 3 files were recorded with the lavs in the same position and distance from the source. The TR-50 has such a crisp audio file, with no excess noise. Well worth the money. The other two do a good job, the Tram just does an exceptional one!

I use this product with the Roland R-05 MP3 recorder to record audio when I'm shooting run-n-gun with my DSLR and don't have time to setup the shotgun microphone, phantom power recorder, etc.

The product works well with the R-05 (make sure the plug-in power is turned on), but I find the overall audio strength to be lacking. Maybe I'm just spoiled by how amazing my Audio-Technica AT4073a sounds. I can't seem to get the audio from the TR-50 to sound as rich and "warm" as the audio from my shotgun. Maybe I'm just expecting too much from a lavalier (first one I've owned).

Overall I'm just satisfied with the purchase. It's useful for situations when I can't use a boom, but if I can afford the extra time and effort, I'll use my boom and shotgun every time.

Absolute plug and play with my Tascam DR-07MKII. This was recommended by top wedding cinematographers as a good entry level lav. Can't wait to test it out next month on the field.

Easy to hide with lots of mounting options. My favorite is the vampire teeth mount. Great audio quality - no "tin can" sound. Voices are true and deep.

Comments about Tram TR50 - Omnidirectional Lavalier Condenser Microphone (Black):

The Tram TR50 is a great sound lav mic. Let me first get that out of the way. It's very clear, and does a great job representing the human voice without any mud or unnecessary frequencies. Here is the issue with the TR50. It has a VERY low output gain, and you need to boost your pre amp very loud to get enough volume out of this mic. If you're using a very high end recorder like a sound device, or another great pre amp, then you're fine, but if you are using any lower end recorder (like an H4N, H6, Roland R05, etc), you're going to get a LOT of pre amp noise, along with your signal. In comparison to the included Sennheiser ME-2 that comes with the sennheiser wireless, I need to boost the TR50 more than twice as much on the preamp to get the same amount of gain.

Definitely consider whether this mic is good for you. If you have a great recorder, then I recommend it. If you don't, then get something else.

For this price point they are the best I've used, and a standard in the industry. Buy them you won't be dissapointed. I recently used them for a wedding and put one on the groom and it even picked up the brides vows extremely well. Has a great tone out of the box, not needing much touch up in post at all, no high end hiss...amazing!

Working in Location sound, I haven't run into one recordist that doesn't keep these handy mics in their arsenal. They offer quality sound at a low price and that's always rare in the business of audio. Of course you'll want to pull out your COS 11s or DPAs in many situations but you'll be hard pressed to find a audio bag without a pair of these!!!

great quality for a tiny lav mic. I bought this after researching lav mics for a few weeks for an upcoming project. The TR50 is great quality and comes with a nice case to store when not in use. I use it with an Roland RO5 recorder.

After looking for a week at more expensive mic setups I settled on this one due to the quality and the price point.

Maybe I'm just expecting too much from a lavalier (first one I've owned).

Overall I'm just satisfied with the purchase. It's useful for situations when I can't use a boom, but if I can afford the extra time and effort, I'll use my boom and shotgun every time.

Slightly over priced item but love the durability of it and the quality. The case it comes with is nice and a good size. Use with a Roland R-05

If you are looking for professional sound this is a great product for the price. I really like the sound quality, even better than my Sanken 11D which I paid more. It comes with necessary accesories and compact case.

I used to work with Tram TR50 mics years ago. The company I work for bought several Sennheiser Evolution 100 G3 Wireless system which came with a ME2 omnidirctional condenser mic. After one or two years of continual use, those mics eventually died. I recently purchased two Tram TR50 microphones with the 1/8" connectors to go with my Sennheiser systems. What a great mic! Great tonality, rugged, easy to use. The TR50 comes with several clips and other clip options from the B&H website.
