Ultra-telephoto photography is easily achieved with your telescope by purchasing this Celestron T-mount Adapter, along with the SLR camera adapter which works with your telescope. You'll need to take precautions to minimize vibrations, such as locking up the mirror, if possible, as well as using a cable release or remote control to fire the shutter.
First remove the eyepiece. Next, attach the SLR camera adapter where the eyepiece would normally be attached to the telescope, and screw in this T-mount adapter to the opposite end of the SLR camera adapter. Now you can attach your camera to the T-mount and you are ready to begin taking pictures!
Note! Your camera will need to be in fully manual exposure mode, although some brands of camera may also work in aperture-priority autoexposure mode. Additionally, if there is a switch on the camera which chooses the focus mode, that switch must indicate manual focusing.

Purchased to mount my Nikon D80 to a Astronomy telescope. It works fine, and mounts solidly.
The only weakness is that, if you have the camera release button depressed, then the t-Mount doesn't have a solid stop when you rotate the ring to remove it from the camera. The T-Mount will continue rotating 360 degrees on the camera. That makes it more difficult to determine when to pull the T-Mount off the camera. Not a big deal, I am getting used to it.

I was looking for a t-ring so I could adapt my Nikon D80 to my telescope to use for prime focus astrophotography. I came across this product through seaching the web. It seems very well made and precisely machined. It fit onto my camera perfect the first time with no slop or play at all. All this and it was cheaper than all the other places that I was looking. Thanks for a great deal and a quality product B&H!

It works just fine. I find that the adapter fits a bit snug and it difficult to sometimes align it properly. All in all it is a good value.

I got two of these to use with my T-mount 800 and 1200 mm lenses. They are poorely made, and when I screw them on my lenses they make a scratching noise! Not comfortable using these as it'll scratch and scuff my lenses and maybe even leave traces of metal in my camera body.

Comments about Celestron T-Mount SLR Camera Adapter for Nikon F-Mount:
The T-mount was purchased specifically to be used with a Nikon D70. Problems were encountered, and advice sought and obtained from B&H. Problem could not be solved with B&H advice. The matter was discussed with Nikon Australia technical staff, and their advice was that the T-mount was incompatible with the D70. A very disappointing outcome.

simple steel ring to connect to a Nikon F mount, which I guess is pretty universal for their SLR cameras.

Comments about Celestron T-Mount SLR Camera Adapter for Nikon F-Mount:
Cheaply made construction. Requires a small metric hex Allen wrench to retighten the three ring locking screws that loosen after use. Threads are sloppy and threaten to gall on both M42 lenses and the Celestron T adapter for C90 scopes. The Nikon F mount part is very flimsy and fragile. Big Caution - this adapter, which has no optics, will not allow M42 lenses or the vintage C90 scopes to focus to infinity with a Nikon DSLR. If you want to use an old screw mount lens for close up work, then it may work.
