Slik PROFESSIONAL II Tripod with PRO II 3-Way Panhead - Supports 16.00 lb (7.250 kg)

You Pay: $469.95

Slik's "PROFESSIONAL" series tripods aren't well known in the United States, but do have an enviable reputation in Japan.  They're rock solid and easy on your hands.  Abundant intelligent touches and precision craftsmanship abound.  Consider them a pinnacle amongst studio tripods, with stepladder-height capacity and the strength for large setups.

The PROFESSIONAL II is intended for use with larger medium format setups, as well as smaller 35mm and field 4x5 camera systems.  The grooved, rugged tubular leg design prevents unwanted rotations when unlocking or locking the legset.

Slik's unique and patented engineering, plus a remarkably wide selection of tripods, makes it is easy to choose just the right one to hold your camera steady at any angle, on virtually any terrain, for applications indoors or outdoors.

Versatile
The leg angle locks to let you set the tripod to 3 different height positions. Each lock is independent, so that the tripod can be set up quickly and easily on steps or uneven terrain.
Grooved Tubular Legs
The groove prevents the leg from turning during extension or retraction, and it allows simple and secure locking.
Worm Gear Elevation
Center column elevation works only by the turning of its crank, so that there are no accidental falls.
Dual Axis Bubble Level
The head has 2 bubble levels for easy leveling in uneven situations.
Maximum upper leg diameter of 32mm
Maximum Height 72.25" (183.5 cm)
Minimum Height 23.2" (59 cm)

Comments about Slik PROFESSIONAL II Tripod with PRO II:

As someone has already posted, a D700 w/battery pack and a long lens is heavy. I have a secure feeling when my D700 is mounted on this tripod. Once you hold a Slik Pro in your hand, you know it's realy a very serious peace of equipment. I have also owned Slik Tripods for over 20 years. You pay for what You get.

I use a Canon 40D with a heavy zoom lens, I also have a couple speed flashes mounted to my camera. This tripod provides lots of support for my heavy rig.

Comments about Slik PROFESSIONAL II Tripod with PRO II:

I use this tripod to hold a D700 w/power drive and with a long lens. The camera as a unit is heavy as anyone who has a D700 w/power drive knows. I've owned a slik tripod now for about 20 years, this time I needed one to hold 16lb max. Something I could trust. It's pricy and heavy but well worth the secure feeling knowing it's going to stay where you put it.
