I use this as a backup meter (moreover, my assistant double checks me using this meter). It is spot on accurate. I bought it quite by accident when I dropped my Sekonic L-358 off a bridge where I was doing a fashion shoot. I had to run into town and the only photo store had this one meter. I had to make do, and was astonished with the accuracy and consistent readings.

I use it all the time in my home studio and it always measures dead on with my more expensive meters. If you need a cheap, accurate flash meter, this has got to be it.

There isn't a lot of functionality and control, but it gives you enough to accurately measure flash readings. I've read reviews about the battery compartment, but I replace the batteries so infrequently that I never paid attention to it.

Expertise: Semi-Pro

Problems Encountered: It barely worked.

      Comments about Interfit Flash Meter:

As a commercial photographer, I use a Dynalite powerpack flash frequently on location. I have always used translucent light modifiers (softboxes and panels). A reliable flashmeter is essential with this method fo determine exposure. The Interfit satisfies this need. A good feature is the PC connection to trigger the flash and activate the metering. Also, the price is a bargain compared to alternative meters. A meter I had previously allowed to combine ambient light with flash output. The Interfit does not. Another plus is that the Interfit is powered by a standard 9-volt battery, and not some expensive and hard-to-find special battery. In short, I am pleased with the acquisition.

                  Very easy to use.
It is hard to remove the dome for incident readings, seems like the head will breal if forced too much.

With the given price tag, it is a good light meter in the market. I heard about battery compartment not fitting properly. Yes the first battery did not fit, then I changed the brand to Enerfizer, and it fitted nicely without any problem.

                        2. The Meter- It is a step up from a Wein. Its fundamental. Its Reliable to date. I am a professional photographer with a rare need to use it occasionally. However, Clients expect a professional to have one it; I needed an economical but professional looking flash meter. If you need an economical meter: This is it. Only time will speak to its reliability but so far thumbs up.

If you expecting fully automatic light meter that will remotely operate your camera and flashes. This is not the meter.

But its a good fundamental meter that will give you an accurate strobe readings and insight.

Bottom line: doesn't work. Readings are inaccurate. I tested it comparing the exposure for a gray card vs. this meter. This meter is highly variable, up to a full f-stop off, and misleading at low power stobes. I can take the same reading twice in a row with wildly different results. The lowest reading is f4 at 100 ISO, but it doesn't even do something as simple as blinking the indicator to inform you that true exposure is higher than indicated. I'm throwing mine away - save your money for something else.

For less than $50, this unit works well. It gives me accurate and consistant readings. It is NOT a $300 unit, so setting are mechanical. It's easy to use; However, the ISO number are off, so you will read MAYBE 1/3 stop on either side depending on where you decide to set the ISO, but you'll know (Hey it's less than $50). So if you are setting up a basic studio, or just want to learn lighting techniques, this unit is for you. If you are a professional, and need reading to 1/10 stop, then spend the $300.

Despite all the poor reviews, I went ahead and got this. The first thing I did was check it for accuracy. It gave wrong and inconsistant readings. Before I could call to return it, it got knocked off the table and the dome part broke. Don't waste your time with this piece of garbage.

When I first read about this product I thought it was going to be easy to use and understand. But once I received it it wasn't as easy as I thought. I had no problems with using the reflected meter but the incident meter wouldn't give me a reading no matter what light I was under.

As long as you only use this product for reflective metering, then its a good deal for the price.

I shoot film, and rely on my Sekonic. Knowing that it isn't going to last forever, I have purchased this as a backup. It stays at my studio now in case I forget my Sekonic, or my Sekonic dies.

This meter required calibration out of box. You can calibrate it with guide numbers if your GNs are accurate, or up against another meter which is what I recommend.

I have had to re-calibrate a couple times in the last two years of ownership.

It's a back-up. But due to it requiring calibration from time-to-time, it isn't reliable because if I need to use it, it is because my Sekonic isn't. I am now shopping for a brand-new Sekonic.

No matter what I do, it always stuck at f32. I had to return it and bought Polaris flash meter, which works like a charm.

easy to set up, however the battery was a bit difficult to put in. I just couldn't get a good reading on the meter with my flash system. I finally held the meter up to the light just to see it it was working and finally got a read... overexposed of course! Well, don't know what I'm doing wrong but it doesn't work for me. Will be sending the product back and will spend the money to get something that will work.

If you are wondering how to set up a studio on a tight budget, don't think about it, just buy one of these. In the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is king, at 1/6 the price of Sekonic.

It self-triggers, no cord needed if you use radio slaves. I had no problem with the battery fit, though tight. I had no problem with meter readings at common ISO figures when I remembered to match the ISO on the meter to the camera manual setting.
