The Quick Tap by JK Audio has it's good points and bad. If you just want to monitor another telephone line and record for those purposes, it's an ok unit, but because of it's small size and lack of controls for audio, you will not be able to do anything more than just monitor a phone call. For instances I'm in the business of recording telephone conversations for professional purposes for electronic news gathering (ENG) and field work and this unit will not allow me to have separate channels, or adjust a incoming volume at all. It's just as it's name states- a quick tap (solution) for listening on phone calls. The built in jack to connect the telephone and the Quick Tap is a Mono plug, and allows very little changes. Study before you buy this one.

Quick Tap is very easy to use. But potential buyers should consider how, as a passive device, it only works in conjunction with other equipment that does the actual recording. I use a laptop computer for this purpose and find that the combination works very well. The set-up requires me to turn on my computer and launch its audio recording software application before a recording is made. This is not inconvenient for me because my recordings are few and all planned in advance. But it is obviously not going to be the ideal solution for everyone in need of a telephone tap.

i use this to record interviews at work. it needs to plug into a standard headset/handset jack, so it's not the thing for mobile phones, but it's flawless otherwise.

This is an easy and effective way for us to record phone conversations just like we were sitting next to each other. We use it to record our weekly podcasts and it has worked wonderfully. The sound quality is not as good as if we were sitting next to each other, but that would be much more expensive than this jack. It makes it easy for us to connect with people that would otherwise be unreachable.

I wanted to make you aware of something that I believe increases the value of your JK Audio QuickTap. First, just a bit of set upI needed to record a two-party phone call on a monthly basis at work using a digital phone system. The QuickTap seemed perfect for the job. BUT when testing it out I found that one party was always louder than the other and had automaticdominance over the other clearly something was going on inside the phone and beyond any user adjustment. The solution is to conference in an additional phone and hook the QuickTap up to that phone. The third phone conference in, handset off the hook and microphone muted TOTALLY solved the problem of a bad dynamic mix.I wanted you to know that your unassuming box is a slam dunk winner.Thanks to you all,
