After 5 years my lens hood popped off my 24-70 f/2.8L Canon lens while leaning over the stone wall of a reservoir when the hood hit the stone and popped off - this was while I was trying to get an unusual shot of beautiful hand-hewn stone on the spill-way. Watched with sadness as it dropped hundreds of feet onto the roof of a maintenance shed that was unreachable by any means. I thought I would end up with a knock-off but when I received my new lens hood ([...]) I was happy to see it was identical to the lens hood I lost including the felt on the inside. Very happy and relieved as this is my favorite lens and the lens hood has saved the lens from many knocks and bangs.

I wish I had a different lens hood for this lens that was smaller, less bulky and didn't constantly get knocked off when stored in the bag. I seem to remember having a smaller length one that had equal coverage some time back. I still recommend it though, because for me a lens hood is mandatory.

I had a canon 24-105 before with many lenses. But After I switched to canon 24-70 2.8 L lens I realized the quality and the depth of field of this lens. When I am shooting with a heavy son light or with lots of lighting devises EW-83F lens hood worked me so perfectly. It seriously cutdown all the light flares. also good protection for the lens too. I always recommend this to all the photographic friends who lives all around the world!

Great lens hood, the only complaint I have is I lose them when shooting concerts, in thick crowds I use two slrs and they get jostled around quite a bit. The twist snap on is ok but it's not built to be jostled around.

This is my third hood. Works great when on the camera, but you can't leave it on the camera because it falls off too easily. Have had two fall off when shooting in areas where they aren't retrievable!

Considered third party manufacturers, however considering we use this item for pro use decided we had better stick with the original Canon brand.
The original that came with the Canon 24-70mm L Series after a few years of professional use finally got a small crack where it attaches to the lens. If it was not attached it may well have been a cracked lens. Well worth it!

The Canon 24-70 lens literally lives on my camera, but it needs a hood and this one from its maker is, of course perfect. It effectively stops sun spots when shooting outside, which is what I do most of the time. It's also a must have for indoor situations as well. It's easy to take off and on. It's Canon. It's a quality product, well-made, durable and a must have if you own this lens.
