Of all the enormous selection of connections from PC sockets to flashes, none is more reliable than the "household" connection. The household connection never seems to accidentally disconnect and cause you to miss a shot, which will very likely happen at least once with any other type of connection.
Instead of having multiple different PC cord types for all of your different flashes, convert all of your various flash connections to the household standard by employing this device and just a single household to pc male cord.
The Wein HSH adapter has a hot shoe connections on top and a "cold" shoe upon the bottom, as well as a threaded 1/4"-20 socket so that you can attach the device to any 1/4"-20 threaded screw if you desire. The HSH provides a "H" household socket on the side of the adapter that allows you to connect accessories with a household type plug.
As the Wein deliberately fits the flash's foot extremely tightly, this device is not intended for daily use with mutli-pin TTL flashes. It is okay to use with TTL flashes from time to time; just be careful and deliberate when attaching and removing the flash from this shoe. The benefit to these narrow tolerances is absolute reliability.

Comments about Wein HSH Hot Shoe to Household Adapter:
This is a solid piece of metal that can take a lot of abuse and can be used with confidence. However, the manufacturer made the big mistake filing down the top metal too thin to a point they are weak. They should stop doing this and let the end users file them to the proper thickness of their choice. At its current state, Wein turns a supposed to be awesome product into junk.

Comments about Wein HSH Hot Shoe to Household Adapter:
The silver metal that wraps around the top to hold the top of the flash shoe is too soft. After a short time it starts unfolding due to stress from the flash. At that point the flash shoe no longer makes proper contact with the adapter and doesn't fire. I keep buying this junk because for some reason, as far as I know no one makes anything like it (which takes a household sync cord)

Comments about Wein HSH Hot Shoe to Household Adapter:
I used this with a Canon XT and XTi for about 2 years and it worked perfectly with both cameras. Test button is convenient and fits snug on the hot shoe.

Comments about Wein HSH Hot Shoe to Household Adapter:
I have several of them, I use them to fire my Vivitars & Canon flashes off-camera using Pocket Wizards, the shoe is machined from a single piece of aluminum and it is very well made. The adapter also has a thread on the bottom so that you can install an umbrella adapter.
In Canon flashes the fit is a little bit snug, you just wiggle it a bit as you slide it down and it fits very well, this little gadget is a piece of equipment you install and forget, it is bullet-proof solid and very reliable.

Comments about Wein HSH Hot Shoe to Household Adapter:
I had to bend back the metal on top so it would accept a flash (it doesn't fit Oly or Sunpack) very tight fit now. Why can't these companies do these small items right?

Comments about Wein HSH Hot Shoe to Household Adapter:
This is by far one of the worst build devises I’ve purchased[...]I had to perform MAJOR surgery to this thing to get it to work. I used a Dremel to cut down two bumps on the top of the unit. These prevent it from sliding on the hot shoe adequately. By the time I got done the front cover fell off and would not glue back with any type of super glue. I used it on Canon’s 550ex and 580ex II. Although the 580ex II has a pc terminal you can’t turn it into a master unless you are using this connector (reason why I bought it) The inside metal terminals are too close and I had to chip these off a bit to prevent my flash from firing on its own. Bottom line I made my own product. I do not recommend this unit. No stars.

Comments about Wein HSH Hot Shoe to Household Adapter:
I bought the Wein Hot Shoe to Household together with theWein XL8 slave. In the XL8 features it mention to work withnew flashes and even support pre-flashes. After many tries Ifound out the two pieces together works only for regularflashes -old- . I was supposed to use it with my NikonSB-600 but IT DOES NOT WORK!!. Thanks God I only bought oneinstead two.. The problem, I guess is not related to the XL8slave but to the Wein Hot shoe adaptor. Wein should mentionfor what kind of flashes their products are intended for. Istill need to find something to remotely fire my two SB-600without using Nikon CLS System -Commender mode-. I can notreturn it from overseas!!Furthermore, at first, it was difficult to figure out how toinsert the flash, the connection is very very tight. Also, the locking knob of the Nikon SB-600 is in the way wheninserting the slave unit inside the hot shoe. This design isnot good at all.

Problems Encountered: Described above
Comments about Wein HSH Hot Shoe to Household Adapter:
The HSH adapter is a very nicely designed and made piece of hardware. It is simple, to the point, and works. It is a pity the Wein guys never tried the HSH on a Canon flash (e.g. 430EX, 580EX) as they do not fit out of the box.
Expertise: Advanced amateur
Problems Encountered: Canon (and Sigma) flashes won't fit in the hotshoe without bending the lips of the hotshoe open with pliers - really spoiling the nicely machined finish of the HSH.
