Comments about Lastolite 6x7' Collapsible Background with Train - Washington/Dakota:
I did not get a chance to do a full test of this product, because the one I was sent was defective. It was not sewn properly so the train would not lay down evenly. That said, I did set it up and took a close look at it because it took me a while to figure out that it was actually defective.
It's compact size when folded relative to it's size when set up is a big plus. Though, I thought the weight was a bit much. It is a knit fabric rather than muslin, so it is pretty heavy and stretches quite a bit. It's heavy also because the train is pretty long on both sides. I'm not a fan of knit fabric for backdrops because I feel like it's cumbersome to deal with. And since the fabric is so heavy, the wire frame that holds it up just barely does it's job. I would not recommend using this outside because there is no good way to sandbag it. You could hang it from a backdrop stand, but if you are going to bother with that you might as well use a full size backdrop.
As far as the color of the background, I thought it was just what I wanted. It matched the photos online accurately.
Like I said, I returned it immediately and B & H was great as usual in handling the return. I ended up purchasing another backdrop system locally because I needed it right away and didn't have time to wait for shipping.
All told, I wouldn't purchase this product again, but I could see how it would be useful to many photographers. The knit fabric is not for me, but it certainly does the job as advertised.

Bought this for the protability and it was well worth every penny. The color texture is awesome. Ideal for smaller groups- its only 6' wide so families larger than 4 or 5 could get interesting- works awesome for kids and seniors.
Unless all you do is head shots- I would never get a collapsable without the train- it works awesome and for the little extra you pay, you get so much more versatility in the backdrop.
Very minimal creasing of the fabric, but I store the background in the bag scrunched up so this may be eliminated if it is stored open. I do steam very quickly before shots and creases are removed with no effort at all.
You do need a stand, it won't stand on its own. I use two light stands with spring clamps. I just had it in a room with only 8' ceilings and it worked. I was worried about closing it but found that if you bend the top of the backdrop towards you, grabing each side and then follow the directions it closes in a snap. (I watch the botero video and that's how they did it).
My clients are very impressed with this backdrop. I love, love, love it and plan to invest in the white/black 6x7 with train as well to replace my less impressive white collapsable backdrop from Impact.
