Product Highlights

  • Slightly Warm Image Tone
  • Normal Dilution is 1+9

Ilford PQ Universal Paper and Film Developer, is a liquid concentrate developer suitable for dish or tray developing of all resin coated (RC) and fiber based (FB) black and white photographic papers. It is a dimezones/hydroquinone derivative. As opposed to Ilford Multigrade developer, this developer will yield a slightly warmer tone.

PQ developer has excellent keeping properties. In addition PQ Universal can be used to dish or tray process Ilford and other manufacturer's technical films. It is also suitable for dish or tray developing of general purpose sheet films when you require a rapid working, high contrast developer. This developer works well when a high degree of enlargement is not required.

It should be noted that Ilford recommends that gloves, eye protection, apron or overall be worn when handling and mixing all chemicals.

Note! PQ Universal is NOT recommended for processing general purpose 35mm and roll film formats, or for high temperature or machine processing applications

For film processing applications it is diluted either 1+9 (high contrast) or 1+19 (pictorial contrast)
PQ Universal developer is designed for use at ambient room temperatures: 20°C (68°F)
Dilute 1+9 or 1+4 for nornmal working conditions; dilute 1+9/1+19 for technical and sheet films
Quantity 500ml (17 fluid ounces, approx)

Comments about Ilford PQ Universal Paper Developer (500ml):

This little bottle definitely goes a long way. I prefer working with the liquids vs. the powders but I wasn't expecting this little bottle to make so much. Great results. But, anything less would be unexpected from Ilford.

Comments about Ilford PQ Universal Paper Developer (500ml):

I switched to PQ when Kodak stopped making Ektaflo type 2, and found it to be similar. Lovely with warmtone paper. Liquid concentrate that lasts longer than you need.
