This is a fine cheap tripod for still photography.
Maybe this is my own fault for not reading the specs carefully, but I didn't realize the "Compact" in the name meant that this is *not* a full-size tripod. It comes up to about the middle of my chest.
Luckily, this was meant to be a tripod for my kids to use, so it should be perfect for them.
Other than that, the quality seems good for a tripod in this price range.

Comments about Sunpak Compact DXL Tripod with 2-Way Panhead - Supports 3.3 lb (1.5 kg):
Use this tripod as an alternative to a full-size tripod for photos while hiking. Pretty much as advertised. It's compact, lightweight, and reasonably durable for the price. There are times when it's too short for what I want, but I can usually find a rock or a stump nearby to set it on.The case it comes with is too small, however. It takes a lot of pushing and stretching to get the tripod in far enough to zip the cover.

This tripod is lightweight and compact. It's easy to carry in the case that comes with it or in your backpack. You can use it closed or at its maximum height (43.5").Helps you taking great picture at night, concerts and for landscaping. The only bad thing about it is that you can tilt the camera for vertical shots.

Comments about Sunpak Compact DXL Tripod with 2-Way Panhead - Supports 3.3 lb (1.5 kg):
Very sturdy with my Panasonic FZ35 camera. Even put the Telephoto and Wide angle lenses on and it was still very sturdy. Smooth movement when panning. It is a short tripod so don't get it if you need something tall.
I am very happy with my purchase.

I haven't used it yet. But as soon as I received it, I opened the package right away. It looks solid and sturdy. The design of this tripod is good enough for my use. No complaint! The carrying case is a bonus too.

This came in handy for videotaping an interview from among the audience, where going handheld would have gotten unnecessarily difficult.

As an inexpensive and light tripod, it moves when you are messing with the camera, and is effected by moderate wind. However, this should be expected when buying this class of tripod. It is just what I need so that I have a basic tripod always available without much weight penalty.

Comments about Sunpak Compact DXL Tripod with 2-Way Panhead - Supports 3.3 lb (1.5 kg):
This is a perfectly fine tripod for the money. It is light weight and relatively small when collapsed. On the other hand, it is also a bit short even when fully extended, and probably not stable enough for a heavy item. I already have a good Manfrotto tripod for my SLR, and I bought this specifically for use with an off-camera flash unit. For a little flash unit or compact camera, this tripod fine. I would not trust it with my SLR and expensive glass, however.
