The Z 26 mt from Neumann is a rubber shock mount designed to provide additional noise protection when used with a standard mount. The z 26 mt is threaded between the stand and the mount to reduce structural vibrations. This compact unit has a 1/2" threaded stud and a 5/8"-27 female thread for use with standard stands. A thread adapter for use with 1/2" and 3/8" stands is included.

With the new Olympus LS-100, I found I was picking up very low frequencies (HVAC?) transmitted through the floor and the stand into recordings, something I had never encountered with microphones with more limited frequency responses. The Z 26 mt solved the problem. It is rather expensive for a small device, and to use it with the LS-100 requires a scarce adaptor (I used a compact photographic ballhead) since the LS-100 has a 1/4" mount and the Z 26 mt uses 5/8" and 3/8" screws.

Using this on my TLM-103 shockmount (holding my TLM-102)cut structure borne noise by about 85 percent! I was finally able to use my mic in my booth! This is well worth the price and probably the most valuable accessory Neumann makes.
