Kodak recently changed their formulation of this film, and, while the new product is supposedly finer-grained and able to deliver more "natural" colors, it bears little resemblance to the former — the color rendition of Gold 100 that I used to enjoy is now gone. This is still a decent, easy-on-the-wallet film, but don't make the mistake of thinking it'll deliver anything like the results of Portra 160 or another high-end low-speed pro. film.

great low-iso film.
i wanted to use a wide open aperture (1.4 or 1.8) and this allowed me to do that outdoors during the day without overexposing. you still have to wait for a cloudy day if you want to shoot with your aperture that open, but i'm happy with the results.

Comments about Kodak GA 135-24 Gold 100 Color Print Film (ISO-100):
I take pictures of everything and have for over 40 years. I use to get fussed at as a child for taking pictures of animals (waste of film), but I didn't stop. I've taken my hobby a step further lately and started participating in and have started my self a gallery of all my animals and nature shots on the galleries on the National Geographic web site. It is a great quality film. I prefer Kodak. I'm disappointed that I'm not able to find Kodak in the stores that I used to purchase Kodak film from and that I cannot find 100 speed Kodak anywhere and that to find the Kodak film at a reasonable price recently, that I'm having to order it from NY. Thank you B & H for continuing to carry film and especially 100 speed Kodak. I find that when I have a CD printed at the photo labs, that they are not as good quality and color as I would prefer to put in the book that I made for my grandkids about 7 years ago or for my gallery that I've started, so I end up scanning my negatives myself to get the correct colors and the good quality that the film really produces. So, if your not happy with your prints or CDs, it may not be the film that is the problem. Even when I've change the CD photo from the 250 dpi that the photo labs scanned the photo at to 300 dpi, its still just not good quality and I end up having to scan the negative myself and then fix all the nicks that has been carelessly made on the negatives. I'm still a fan of film over digital, although I wouldn't mind the chance to play with a good quality digital camera.

I used the rolls on my trip out west at five national parks.
A few times I tried star trails, but only half of those frames turned out. The others were completely blank. That was probably my fault, though.
This is a trusted film to use due to the brand name and reliability of having developers all over that can take them.
It's really all good. Kodak has built a name for itself and doesn't really need me to say they're good or bad - most people already know them and have made up their mind. They're good. Although, this is kind of a film for the average person to use, not the artist. It's a plain-Jane kind of film that's reliable.

People often like to bash Kodak's lower cost consumer film lineup. Let's face it, will this film blow away the resolving power and fine grain of your friend's brand new Canon Rebel DSLR...maybe, but more often not. If you were a digital enthusiast, you probably wouldn't be looking at this page! I shoot film, mostly because I prefer how it looks over digital. This film isn't the finest grain film I've ever seen, its actually quite grainy for a 100 iso film, but it is indeed sharp. It just has a unique look to it, with the right combination of grain, sharpness, contrast and saturation. I use this film along with Kodak Gold 400 for everyday use. Heck, I'd probably use it professionally too. Recommended. Buy it up, and they'll keep making it!

I have been using Kodak 100 film since the 1980's and the odd time that I have used another speed or brand of film, I do not get good colors in my photos. Kodak 100 gives me excellent colors in my photos. All my friends have digital cameras but none of them get the quality of pictures that I get from my 35M. I am not even thinking of changing to digital. I hope you keep stocking Kodak Gold 100 print film.

I ALWAYS prefer Kodak 100 film. Faster speed film is grainy, and other brands don't have the color quality. I was at Lake Louise a few years ago and conducted a test. Took an entire roll of Fuji 100 and the identical pictures using Kodak 100. The Fuji tended to be greener and the Kodak was right on target for proper colors. My kids give me a hard time about not going digital, but there's something about the whirr of my SLR that appeals to me! Kodak 100 is hard to find, so I hope you continue to stock it!
