SkyMasters are economically-priced large aperture offerings from Celestron. They're great for both astronomy or long-range terrestrial observing.

High-powered binoculars are difficult to hold steady by hand; a monopod(and a tripod adapter if not included with the binocular) with an incorporated fluid pan/tilt head or with such a head attached between the monopod and the binocular is highly recommended.

Center focus dial
Multicoated lenses
BaK-4 Porro prisms
Rubber armoring with pebbled prism coverings
Long eye relief combined with large apparent angular field of view
Lifetime "No Fault" Warranty Coverage
Celestron binoculars, excluding the digital VistaPix series, include their wonderful "No Fault" warranty coverage, which assures that your binoculars will be repaired or replaced at Celestron's option for as long as you own them-no questions asked!  The only requirements on the user's end are to ship the binoculars(at the user's cost) to Celestron with a proof of purchase and a check or money order for $25 to cover the costs of inspection, shipping and handling.  This warranty service is valid only for USA and Canadian citizens purchasing from an authorized Celestron dealer.

I've owned 10x50 binoculars since 1976 at the age of 14, and now I've upgraded to high power binoculars to use for astronomy. The Celestron Skymaster 15x70 binocular is a quality made instrument that handles well; and it's 15x magnification really brings the image up close. The 70mm diameter objectives with their multi-coated surfaces draw in plenty of light when viewing at twilight and at dawn. This is a Man's binocular in that it is beefy in appearance and it's weight. I've had this piece of glass for over a week, and I've used them every night to star gaze. I'm please with their performance in resolving distant objects in the heavens; whether planes or faint star clusters. The case is lightweight fabric and the neck strap is a joke; utterly useless in my estimation. The case is fair but should be hardshell to protect the binocular from collimation issues. My binocular shipped fine. Kudos to B&H Photo for their fine customer service and fast shipping of my item. Celestron provides a tripod adapter at no charge with this binocular; and it's okay. You'll need to invest in a heavy duty tripod and more robust tripod adapter if you plan to do heavy duty star gazing and moon observations. Because of the binoculars size and magnification you'll need steady hands to get truly viewable images. I've used binoculars since a teen; and I know something about quality when I see it. You can't beat this for under $100.00. I've owned expensive video cameras; and their optics didn't perform as well as these binocular optics in terms of image resolution and definition due to their greenish multi coatings on the lens. I do wish that Celestron had fully multi coated all lens and prism surfaces. as well as adding fog proofing to this fine line of binoculars. In closing you'll be able to discern thousands of stars in the deep dark skies. You can't go wrong with the Skymasters.

Expertise: Binoculars, microscopes and high end video cameras

Problems Encountered: None, but do protect your lens from smudges.

Previous Equivalent Item Owned: Minolta Standard XL Wide Angle 10x50 Binocular

Items I Recommend: Heavy duty tripod and adapter, robust neck strap

These are light weight and make a nice 'grab and go' pair of binocs for tracking aircraft as well as locating astronomical objects.
I bought these to replace my Nikon 10x50 so the magnification is good. However, the focus knob doesn't 'feel' so secure and the binocs arrived out of collimation from the factory.
I like the fact that it came with a tripod adaptor. If one can get a pair in collimation and well constructed these can make a nice starter set of binoculars for the price.

Comments about Celestron 15x70 SkyMaster Binocular:

I was hoping that I had found a one in a million bargain. It did not fulfill my hopes, but is still a very good buy. Field of view was a bit smaller than I was hoping for, but I knew it was limited by the description. Have no problem with collimation. 15x is great, I am use to 9x with my other pair. Weight is surprisingly light for the size.

Comments about Celestron 15x70 SkyMaster Binocular:

excellent astronomical biniculars! I was concerned about the weight after reading previous reviews, but found them to be lighter than my old 7x50's. I was looking for a large aperture binocular but wanted a low magnification so I could use them without a tripod. A tripod adapter is included with the binocular and would be needed for best viewing results, but for a quick scan of the heavens without the incomberance of a mount, these are great. Wide views of star fields are beautiful, like diamonds on black velvet. Unbelievable value for a high quality optical instrument - highly recommended !

They come with a neck sling and lens rag. They have a soft case included also with a sling attached. I am very pleased with these binoculars. I would highly recommend!

Just got these. Overall I am very satisfied. I am shaky enough that these are practically unusable w/o a tripod adapter. But I picked up one of those, and they work just fine.
I also replaced the nearly useless skinny strap that came with it for a much wider aftermarket strap.
I wear glasses, so at first I was trying it with the eyecups folded down, but it seems to work much better with the eyecups out.

Lots of fun in an affordable package. We are having a grand time seeing even more stars than we usually can in our very starry skies. These are big heavy binocs, using a tripod helps for sure.

Comments about Celestron 15x70 SkyMaster Binocular:

Excellent light-gathering for star gazing, plus the right magnification to allow use without tripod when seated (not standing). It comes with a tripod mount if you chosoe to use one.

I can clearly see open clusters, asterisms, Jupiter's Galilean moons, and bright nebulae. I saw one of the brighter globular clusters as well.

This is, of course, not a telescope so the things I've listed appear small, but they are clear when you steady your hands (think a reclining beach chair). It's good for a nice quick look at the sky at night and brings out things you cannot see with the small amount of light allowed by your pupils alone. You don't always want to haul out a big telescope, and this is good for a casual observing experience.

I would definitely use this lower maginfication over higher ones due to: amount of light gathered, reasonable weight, and ability to stabilize when seated without a tripod.

                                    I love these binoculars

Comments about Celestron 15x70 SkyMaster Binocular:

These are great binoculars for bird walks. The focus control is very fine, and everything looks very 3 dimensional. Color and contrast is better than expected for such an inexpensive item. The view is very bright. The only downsides are objects have to be pretty far away to focus on them (but that's stated in the specs so I knew to expect it) and they are large compared to the 10x50s I have.
