Questions? Ask our experts:

SkyMaster Binoculars are economically-priced large aperture offerings from Celestron, great both for astronomy or long range terrestrial observing.  The tripod adapter on the 20x80 model provides support and increased rigidity-indeed, these were never designed to be used handheld.  Take this beast where skies are dark and mount it to a tripod.  Then be awed at their awesome ability to penetrate the inky depths of night, revealing subtle nuances of galaxies and nebulae with all the advantages of using two eyes instead of one.

Multicoated lenses
BaK-4 Porro prisms
Rubber armoring with pebbled prism coverings
Long eye relief combined with large apparent angular field of view
Lifetime "No Fault" Warranty Coverage
Celestron binoculars, excluding the digital VistaPix series, include their wonderful "No Fault" warranty coverage, which assures that your binoculars will be repaired or replaced at Celestron's option for as long as you own them-no questions asked!  The only requirements on the user's end are to ship the binoculars (at the user's cost) to Celestron with a proof of purchase and a check or money order for $25 to cover the costs of inspection, shipping and handling.  This warranty service is valid only for USA and Canadian citizens purchasing from an authorized Celestron dealer.

I recently purchased two binoculars - a Nikon 10x25 Trailblazer - something small, light and robust to carry around hiking, and a Celestron 20x80 Skymaster for astronomy use. They arrived promptly, which was good, as I was about to go overseas. Unfortunately I didn't get a chance to have a look at them before I left...The Nikons were fine, but on unpacking the Celestron I found that it wouldn't focus and the eyepieces fell off!Closer examination found that the small brass screw that moves the eyepieces via the focusing rods was broken - it was DOA.I contacted Celestron and they said that I should return it to Celestron in the USA for a replacement. Unfortunately, now being outside of the USA, the postage back will cost more than the binoculars cost in the first place. Having the binoculars repaired or replaced means I'll be waiting until I return in about six months. In the meantime I've done a temporary repair and they are useable if I'm careful.Apart from that problem I think the binoculars are very good value for money. Optically they are quite good. Some other reviewers have complained about the general low-quality of the finish and they are not very robust, but for about [$]bucks, what do you expect? Yes, the little Nikons I bought are much better quality, both optically and mechanically, but they are also in a different class. If you want robust 80 mm binoculars, then get some Steiner or Kowa etc binoculars. But then you are paying 10 to 20 times as much. Some people have also complained about the poor collimation of the Celestron Skymasters, but if you search the Internet you can find information telling you how to easily re-collimate them. They are designed to be mounted on a tripod, and I think they would be much easier to use if they had a 45 degree angled eyepiece, but of course this would add a lot to the cost!Overall I think these are value-for-money, but they are just a bit fragile - make sure you treat them carefully. The little Nikons will are thrown in my backpack. The Celestrons will be going in a hard carry-case.

Comments about Celestron 20x80 SkyMaster Binocular:

I purchased these binoculars to take advantage of the beautiful night skyscapes in the Berkshire MA area. With limited light pollution it is truely an incredible sight to view the stars with these binoculars. The binoculars are well made and heavy, a sturdy tripod is an absolute must. I purchased a SLIK Pro700DXQ tripod.. highly recommended. I'm 6'1" and wanted a tripod to extent to accommodate my height so I would not have to squat when viewing through the binoculars. Great combo very pleased with my purchase.

Never new the mountains north of us had so many trees on it. Just looks like a rock mountain to the naked eye.

You get what you pay for. The optics are outstanding. What I've learned from a previous Celestron purchase is...be gentle. Not built for handling. Keep it on a tripod and go easy. Beyond that, great for wildlife and night sky.

These cost just over $. For that money outstanding value. I have not tested them at night yet, but their resolution is fantastic on land based objects. While viewing is OK for short periods, invest in a tripod as well - it makes a big difference

My main use is at the rifle range. EASILY see .22lr holes at 100 yards. Its five easy stars. If the price was $250, then 4 stars. Excellent light gathering qualities, more light than what is seen with the naked eye at night, well made product. B&H was great with the packaging and delivery. Focus is just a bit fuzzy on the edges when the center is sharp, which does not detract at all when viewing. The tripod mount is a plus, although I didn't need it when resting my elbows on my knees.

The tripod made all the difference in the world!!! I definitely recommend them to anyone wanting to view long range views!!!

I was looking for a new set of Astronomical binoculars and settled on these for the features, and price. I was not disappointed. Collamination was perfect. Last night I was observing Jupiter, and you can see the different colors and several of the tiny moons around it. I wish it did come with a hard case, but for the price, not a big deal. Does require a tripod.

Love the binoculars. The tripod is a must. They are heavy but what you can see through them it's amazing. I stumbled into Rigel while star gazing. 770 light years away. Beautiful green, blue and red lights from this beautiful star.

I use these binoculars to help my grand daughter with her interest in starts and planets. Once set up on the tripod we were treated to an exciting clear view of the night sky. Most notable was the ability to see three of Jupiter's moons distinctly.

So far I have only been able to use these in a VERY urban setting, but last night was clear enough to see quite a bit. The field of view just fits Orion's belt inside to give an idea of what to expect. These binoculars get heavy, so resting them against a window or mounting them to a tripod are necessary for extended viewing. I was able to see the Pleiades last night and was able to pick out a 8.05 magnitude star. I bought these to learn the sky a bit before investing in a telescope and am very satisfied with them so far.

I purchased these binoculars for some amatuer star gazing. They have been absolutely stellar. After mounting to my camera tripod they have been splendid tools for sighting. The binoculars are surprisingly light for thier size and have been equally as fun and useful for sighting during the daylight hours. The lense caps tend to fall off to easliy and the carry bag could be a little more robust with better clasps. With that said though I bought the Binoculars for sighting not carrying and I had always intended to mount them to a tripod. The supplied neck strap is decent anyway so even off the mount they transport pretty well despite thier size....and they are Huge ,quite a little conversation piece...I reccomend Moon viewing with these for sure ,absolutely stunning.
