The Audio Technica AT-4033/CL is a large diaphragm, side address cardioid condenser microphone. Designed for professional and project recording, the AT-4033/CL delivers high audio signal reproduction with very low self-noise resulting in a strong, up-front audio signal. The cardioid pick-up pattern effectively minimizes audio at the off-axis sections of the microphone, eliminating noise caused by room ambiance, monitors etc. The microphone's output stage features transformerless circuitry which virtually eliminates low-frequency distortion and effectively maintains the integrity of transient audio signal. The microphone utilizes +48 volt phantom power and features 10dB pad and 80Hz high-pass filter switches for added control over dynamic range and low-frequency noise.

Comments about Audio-Technica AT4033/CL - Studio Microphone with Shock Mount:
I bought this microphone based on a recommendation by the Alan Parsons Art and Science of Sound Recording website. It is extremely quiet, and records true without the need for EQ. I finally found a mic that provides a true representation of guitar and vocals. I have tried many microphones over the past 25 years and this microphone not only sounds great, it is a great value as well.

Comments about Audio-Technica AT4033/CL - Studio Microphone with Shock Mount:
If I could I would give this 2 & 1/2 stars. Purchased for a concert, we did so on the recommendation of the artists. It worked but was extremely sensitive, and had a terrible pick-up range.
