The 28-75mm range works much better than the newer 24-70. On Sony A77 works out perfect.

I find myself primarily using this lens. Focus seems to be fast and pictures come out clear. The bokeh I get from this lens is pleasing. Build quality seems very solid. Its also great for recording video with my Sony A77. This lens has become my all around lens. This a nice portrait lens too. This lens is worth a look.

I've only had the lens for a few weeks, and photography is just a hobby for me but so far it's been great. It's fast and my images have been sharp. No complaints here! It definitely seems to be a good go-to lens when I don't want a fixed lens.

Comments about Tamron A09 SP AF 28-75mm f/2.8 XR Di LD Aspherical (IF) Macro Zoom:

I purchased this lens for its range and its low light ability. I find the 28-75mm range very good for indoor events. Is it a perfect lens? No. For very sharp pictures in poor light I use my prime 35mm f1.8 or my prime 85mm f2.8. However for the money it is sharp, especially in good to fair light. In poor light you would have to have a high-end camera that can go to ISO 1600 or 3200.

Comments about Tamron A09 SP AF 28-75mm f/2.8 XR Di LD Aspherical (IF) Macro Zoom:

This lens is great. I never heard a lot about it before I got it (there's always someone raving about the 20ish to 70ish iterations from Nikon, Sony, and Canon), but I'd put this against all of them. This is one of three lenses always on my camera (besides the 70-200 f/2.8 and a 50 mm 1.8 prime). I actually use this sometimes instead of my 50mm 1.8 prime if I'm shooting f/4 or above. Pretty sharp wide open and razor after f/4.

It's great shooting events in low light without flash.

It has a little lens creep, but I don't mind because 1) it has a lock and 2) it's not that long fully extended to really bother anything.

Save your money and get this lens.

Use for taking pictures of groups of people in low light situations. The lens does a superior job, as long as you do not need extreamly wide angle. You also need to be careful on closer shots because all subjects may not be in focus. Ovewrall, I am pleased with the lens.

I got this for use with my Sony NEX 5N using the LA EA2 adapter. I have this lens for my Canon 7D and get so much use out of it I wanted one for my NEX. It is very sharp, but it has a yellow cast. If I do a manual WB it is corrected, but it shows on AWB. I have heard the 28-75's are known to have a yellow cast, but I do not have it on the copy I use on my Canon. I will be returning it for the Sony 28-75 and hopefully that will be better.

This is my first Tamron Lens, and was very hesitant to purchase. Based on the ratings and the price helped me decide. It's nice, and takes great quality pictures. I have not had it long enough really put a detailed response here. However I did use it to shoot some pictures on a roof top during the day. When I uploaded the pictures, I noticed that my sensor is in need of cleaning, something that I did not notice from my kit lens. I will use this as a replacement of the kit lens.

I needed a good walk around lens and wider angle lens to compliment my Canon 70-200 F/4L lens which is the epitome of sharp. I chose the Tamron 28-75 F/2.8 based on reviews and price point. I have shot enough pictures now to know what all the rave is. My pictures are sharp with proper contrast, and colors seem rich in good light. I have read this lens does focus slow and with noise. I found neither to be true. My lens is not perfectly quiet but I found noise and speed more than acceptable. Now at 75mm at F/2.8 the lens is soft as you will note in many of the reviews you read. However by F/3.5 the lens recovers nicely and by f/4.0 the lens is razor sharp. I would have no problem recommending this lens or purchasing it again. Being used on a Canon 7D.

I find this lens absolutely amazing! It's incredibly sharp!
Focusing speed is pretty snappy and gets it right most of the time.
                                      Absolutely pleased with this lens!

I do use this for mainly portraiture and some General use in which it does a great job. The color I get is superb. I thought at first when I picked it up that it was so light that it was cheap. It's Not! It's a great lens and my only complaint is that it's not the tightest focus on close up or "Head Shots".

bought for indoor volleyball photos of daughters JO team. Lots of research indicated aperature and lens quality the key for this type of pics. Opted to upgrade with this lens and camera body only. Photos are only as good as the lens you use.

Replaced standard f/3.5 zoom with this lens. Using with a Sony a55v, f/2.8 makes a big different. Excellant quanlity at a significant savings. Would strongly recommend.

I bought this lens instead of the Sony because of the price and i couldn't be happier. Now im sure that if you make your money by taking photos this lens might not be the best choice for you. I highly recommend this lens if you are like me and take photos of family and as a hobby.
