If you're looking for a higher quality eyepiece than the standard-issue offering that come with most telescopes, the 40.0mm Omni provides more enhanced features at a great value. Celestron designed the 40.0mm Omni with attention to the details that separate good eyepieces from average ones. It is a 4-element Plossl formula with blackened lens edges, multilayer coatings upon each surface and an anodized barrel. These features combine to increase contrast and light transmission, and of course it is threaded to accept Celestron's many 1.25" eyepiece filters.

Comments about Celestron Omni 40mm Eyepiece (1.25"):
This eyepiece performs as advertised/expected. I would recommend it to anybody. I am using it with a 1200mm Orion Dobsonian reflector to give me 30x magnification. The original Orion eyepice is 28 mm, so this gives me a wider field of view.

Comments about Celestron Omni 40mm Eyepiece (1.25"):
This is an okay eyepiece but since the field of view is only 43 degrees it's virtually the same image as what you'll see with the 32mm Omni at 52 degrees. I purchased both of these before I realized this and now I only use the 32mm. There doesn't seem to be a point for the 40mm to exist.

A sharp eyepiece that performs well beyond its price. Nicely made, too.

Comments about Celestron Omni 40mm Eyepiece (1.25"):
With a quite impressive body size, compared to my old eyepieces, the view through is really impressive. It's just like if you were gazing directly at the sky, but with a lot of stars you woulnd't be able to see without.
And for the moon, you simply feel as flying around.
Very comfortable, you don't get tired looking through it.
For the children, it's perfect because it is very easy to use (you can have both eyes wide open)

The first eyepiece I use to align the scope. Great for searching targets. Price vs quality makes it a good deal.

Comments about Celestron Omni 40mm Eyepiece (1.25"):
I needed a wide angle eyepiece to better locate the alignment stars and it works great. It's the first eyepiece I grab to aim the telescope and it is working for me. it's well constructed and looks good to. It has Plossl design optics and the rubber grip is a plus. I chose it for price and was not disappointed,
