The Lowel DV Creator 44 Kit, LB-35 Case offers four different types of light fixtures for a variety of lighting situations. This is a kit supplied with bulbs for use with 120V AC, gel frames, gels, stands, and an LB-35 Soft Kit Case.

The unique umbrella-like Rifa EX44 16 x 16" softlight allows set-up in 60 seconds or less. Bathe almost anything in soft, luxurious light, from talking heads to table-top stills. Its quick-change power cord easily converts for use with professional battery belts, allowing it to work at 12V, 14V and 30V in addition to 120V and 230V. It's the perfect complement to today's compact, light-sensitive, digital cameras and film stocks.

With its high intensity #2 reflector and prismatic glass, the tiny focusable Pro-light is more efficient than a Fresnel of equal wattage, yet it gives an exquisite even light, with Fresnel-like shadow quality. It can be used as a low-level key or accent light, fill light (with diffusion), or backlight.

The wide focusing range of the Omni-light makes it a flexible key or backlight. Add diffusion or an umbrella, and it's a soft fill source.

Compact, rugged and versatile, the broad-throw Tota-light can be used with its umbrella or gel-frame and diffusion as a soft key, fill, or backlight. With its adjustable reflectors, it can be a smooth and even background light, or point it at the ceiling to raise the ambient (base) light level of a room. Tota-lights are also widely used for photographic copy work.

Any of the fixtures in this kit can be converted to 230-240 volts use by ordering the appropriate bulbs, cable and plug adapter
The Pro-light, Omni-light and Rifa eX44 may be used with 12V or 30V battery packs
The Pro-light may be converted to on-camera use
The face of the Rifa-lite eX44 measures 16 x 16" (40 x 40 cm)
Accessory exchange lampheads allow use of daylight fluorescent screw-threaded lamps
The EX series of Rifa Lites enables you to change out the fixture's socket, to make use of cooler-running fluorescent bulbs (bulbs available separately)

Comments about Lowel DV Creator 44 Kit, LB-35 Case:

After a great deal of research I chose the DV Creator 44 Kit. I purchased this kit so that I can produce quality videos and photographs for my business website and advertising brochures. It is the perfect combination of lights to get all of the effects I desire. The price was quite good for what the kit contained with great product quality. In the future I might need to add more lights but for now this will work beautifully.

Comments about Lowel DV Creator 44 Kit, LB-35 Case:

I've used Lowel lights since college and have always found them to give the most bang for your buck if you're on a tight budget. I advised my church to purchase this kit (plus one extra Tota) and it has worked beautifully. You have a ton of flexibility with the varriety of the lights and the inclusion of the Rifa makes it very worth while.

Things to know: As noted in another post, the case is smaller than it appears, but to me that's an advantage when hauling it around. Also, Lowels do tend to get very hot and need a lot of cool down. Gloves are a must. I recomend buying a gel pack to go with it to bolster your options. A $25 investment in that will give you a lot more flexibility.

(I'll also note that I'm a professional video producer, but they only gave an option for "pro photographer" even though this is a video lighting kit.)

This is a great starter kit. It's easy to setup and highly portable. The soft case is a little cramped but it does the job if you break everything down correctly.

Comments about Lowel DV Creator 44 Kit, LB-35 Case:

This is a great package for the price. Everything you need for a nice interview setup. The photo misleads a bit on how big the actual products are. The soft box looks pretty darn big in the photo but its front is about the size of your elbow to your pinky finger vertical and horizontal. If you're looking for something to not get so hot, look into "cool lights", but if you mainly shoot studio and can control temperature easily this is a good buy. I'm happy with my purchase and I'd recommend fully.

Comments about Lowel DV Creator 44 Kit, LB-35 Case:

I shoot a lot of interviews so the Rifa is great. You can change out the wattage of the bulb. The tota is mostly useless because it throws light everywhere and you cant control it. Dont let an umbrella fool you, but if you get a speedring and softbox from Photoflex on the cheap then you are totally in business and can control the light. Out of the lowell kits available this is the BEST DEAL since you basically get the pro light for nothing when comparing with other kits so it pays to pay the extra 80 bucks. The bag actually fits everything in it especially the stands which can make the smaller lowell bags bulge on the sides. I couldnt be happier about this. Cheap, sturdy, easy to travel with and set up on the fly. For interviews you have a nice backlight, soft source, a fill if you dont want to use a zipdisk and an extra omni to use as a background light if needed. Great all around kit or starter kit. Go shoot some stuff!

I was looking for a smaller portable kit to be able to do interviews on the fly and found this kit to suit my needs. This works well as a first time kit. When I initially opened the kit I thought some lights were missing, but much to my surprise found them much more compact than I had thought (which is a good thing) because I had been used to carting around very heavy ARRI kits. This kit rocks! It has a great variation of lights from Tota to Rifa, etc. One nice thing is having included an umbrella that can fit 3 lights. It also comes with nice little accessories like a starter gel kit, small flag, etc. Would recommend this kit to any person for a first time kit purchase.
