The AKG KM235/1 Stereo Microphone Bar is a small, versatile microphone stand accessory that can hold two microphone clips onto a single stand. It is 8.5" in total length, and it has three separate sections: The primary bar that screws onto a single american mic stand threading, and two pivotable arms. The two arms are very tight, and only move when you are adjusting them; there is no need to loosen and retighten the arm positions at all. They can pivot the full 360 degrees, given that the other arm doesn't get in the way.
To attach the two mic clips, there is a special metal part that both screws into the arm, and screws into a mic clip. This way, you can adjust the depth of the special metal part, in case you have a mic clip that has either a shallow or deep threading inside of it. However, this setup has a lot of extra moving parts, threadings, and it can be a bit confusing to get the mic clips threaded correctly, and tightened in the correct position. You may have to buy or use a mic thread washer in order for the mic clip to be tightened in the correct position, and I know I have some problems setting it up properly. However, the special metal part is easily adjusted by hand, as the handle is very wide.
The overall material of this microphone bar is very solid, all metal and no cheap plastic anywhere. It is aesthetically simple and clean, and for the most part, it functions just as intended. If you need to hold two mics in an a/b position for drum overheads, or use them for other stereo setups, this accessory can reduce the number of stands and clutter of your stereo setup. Be sure to try it out first, and see if it works with you mic clips.

Center thread threads pretty nicely...but one of the end threads didn't tighten all the way into my Shure SM81's clip. I had to secure it by wrapping rubber band around the bottom and letting it tighten around the rubber.
The adjustable-angle ends are very nice, and allow for multiple stereo recording techniques.

This is well made and does what it is supposed to do. Because of its adjustability, by adding a short extension rod (such as the 7 inch piece from [On-Stage 7", 13" and 18" Microphone Boom Kit with Posi-Lok Clutch], also available from B&H) I can use this for a mid-side setup with two large-diaphragm condenser mics.

I needed to be able to set up some matched Rode NT5s in an XY arrangement. This does the job.

Good solid piece of equipment. I will probably be using this for some XY mic setups. Maybe not long enough for AB setups, but we will see.
Well built, right price.

The ability to bring the 2 sides together is great when using short mics like Neuman KM-184s. I like this better than using a bar with a fixed width.

This stereo bar is much better than the simple straight ones and will give you much more directional control of your microphones.

I've mounted this on Canon XL-2 with a shoe-5/8" adapter for XY setup (just needed to flip it upside-down to clear viewfinder). Has plastic washers to keep things tight and reduce vibrations.

I bought one of these 9 years ago and I ended up stripping the center threading on a broken stand a few weeks back. I was happy to see this one is still around and still at a low price, so I picked another one up. why pay more when this is all you need?

It's great. Does just about everything I need to do. My mics are very heavy so it does bend a little, but overall it is a great product. I would recommend it to anyone.
