Comments about ART PROMIX 3-Channel Portable Mono Microphone Submixer:

There was no discernible hum or hiss with the mixer and battery vs. plug in power was the same. The mixer function works great. The "clip" indicator is not of much use because it is very dim with low but unacceptable levels of clipping. I could hear the distortion before I could see the clip indicator. The batter power is provided by 2 9-volt batteries that require a screwdriver to change. One complaint is that both battery clips were defective (contact was loose on the + terminal. The hassle/time/cost of repairing was less for me that replacing, but beware.

Comments about ART PROMIX 3-Channel Portable Mono Microphone Submixer:

I purchased this mixer a few days ago 06/09/11. It worked fine when I tested it at home. The next time I attempted to use it (1 days later) was at the recording session. It wouldn't come on. I tried sveral outlets with no success I tried using a brand new 9 volt battery, this was no solution. I'm very displeased with this product. Well... I guess you get what you pay for.

Small mixer with vary basic features, however it serves perfect the purpose of adding more mic channels to an existing sound installation.

Comments about ART PROMIX 3-Channel Portable Mono Microphone Submixer:

These ART mixers are extremely well-built and a great solution for those times when I have more mics than mike inputs. Each of the three inputs of the PROMIX has DIP switches to engage the low cut filter and phantom power as needed. Consequently, while the front panel is utilitarian, the rear panel options gave me features above and beyond what other inexpensive mixers have, in a size that could be Velcroed to the back of a pro camera.
While I didn't need this feature, the unit will also run on 9v batteries for location recording.
A word of caution: ART offers several variations of this type of mixer, so be sure to order the correct one for your application.

Comments about ART PROMIX 3-Channel Portable Mono Microphone Submixer:

Due to monitor board channel limitations I needed to sum two vocal microphones so that I was able to sing primarily into my main mic as well as sing occasionally into another mic located near an on stage keyboard. My main mic is a condenser, and the second mic a dynamic. This unit works perfectly as I can send phantom power only to the mic requiring it, and the level controls help me ensure I'm sending a balanced level from each mic. Keep in mind that this unit can provide a very hot signal, and the controls are very sensitive. I'm running each mic's level control at about 9 o'clock. As with every piece of ART gear I own, this is built very solidly. I have no concerns about reliability, which is important for a weekly gigging musician. Fidelity is excellent. I'm monitoring through some very high end in ear monitors and there's no detectable coloration or degradation of signal. Extremely pleased!
