    Good way to save money

    Comments about Kodak TMY 35mm 100' Roll T-Max 400 B&W Print Film (ISO-400) TMY402:

I get 28-30 24 exposure magazines from this. That makes it about $ each or 1/3 of package version. You need bulk loader and magazines but you recoup that with one or two bulk rolls.

When you have the best equipment you use the best accessories. I have a Leica M6 and a Fujifilm TX-1 and what I needed was to make sure that the film I use do not lessen the result expected from these cameras. The T-Max 400 B&W Print Film (ISO-400) TMY402 by Kodak is simply the best. And by buying in bulk I cut my cost per roll by more then 1/3rd so I can use the saved money to pay for the acids.

Absolutely my favorite 35mm b&w film stock. Rolling bulk film is gratifying and satisfying, and economically sane! Pushing 400 to 1600 with ease with brilliant results in the highlights with proper development techniques. Pulling to 200 is absolutely beautiful, too! I will buy this stuff until they stop me!!

I've used 400Tmax and 100Tmax speed films for years and have found the quality control and film grain to be excellent. I would highly recommend it to anyone wanting to shoot film. It requires precise procesing to fully take advantage of the films characteristics and can be push processed very successfully.

Packaging is very nice as it comes with a metal case instead of a paper box like what you get from ilford films. How you load it up is pretty standard, nothing special. The film itself though, is legendary. You get a lovely contrast and grains very comfortable to look at. It is also relatively tolerant to processing error and very good at being pushed, even up to ISO 6400.

I'm not sure why people are so obsessed with Tri-X. T-Max had better tonal range and less grain. I often push to 1600 and still have very excellent results; obviously there is more grain than if shot at the proper exposure index (or even at 200 as I have done as well) but it still produces a very pleasing photograph. With the amount of film I use, it is much more cost effective to roll my own. I always have one roll reading for use and one in the freezer as back up.

TMax ASA 400 film is my film of choice on gray, rainy days. I shoot it at ASA 1600 when I want to take pictures indoors without a flash. The grain is fine at the rated speed, and nicely gritty at 1600.

A fine product, have used it for years.

One other reviewer stated that they had a "trick" that could create 33 36 shot rolls from a 100 foot long roll. This is physically impossible, since the frame plus border is 38mm wide, about 1.5 inches. With 6 inches for leaders and trailers, you would get 20 rolls. Do the math.

I have recently started lading my own film. I've heard differing opinions on this process. The bottom line: it saves me money. Thanks to a trick taught to me by an old friend, I get about 33 roles of thirty-six out of a 100' roll.

I've been using T-Max films for nearly ten years and have never been disappointed. I tend to shoot in low light, at night, or in indoor high speed ambient light situations so I tend to go for the 400 which pushes nicely to 800 or even 1600. It is an easy film to develop and print with as well as being very economical, especially in a bulk roll, which is the way I go. The one issue that is questionable is that without T-Max developer it tends to show more grain, but I have never had any qualms with that as I like that effect in my work. And with the T-Max developer it has amazingly clear results. I would recommend T-Max to anyone who shoots in black and white, especially if they do their own developing and printing. I have yet to find a black and white film that I would rather use.

Great all purpose B&W film. Saves loads (maybe %50?) buying in bulk, also gives you a lot of flexibility. The new TMAX 400 grain is said to compare to 100 speed films, and though I haven't done the comparison myself, it is indeed a very sharp film.

                                    Comments about Kodak TMY 35mm 100' Roll T-Max 400 B&W Print Film (ISO-400) TMY402:

The bulk rolls are easy to use once you actually go through the process of loading your own film. I have allways loved TMax400 and this has not changed with this roll, in fact I fell like each roll is even more consistent as they all come from the same batch. The only downside is the inital price wich is ofset by the lower per roll price.
