Great film
I'm really biased in favour of Tri-X since I've used this film for around 35 years. The film has been updated continuously over that time, but the shooting attributes have remained the same.

With Tri-X, you get an extremely large amount of latitude during both exposure and development. I don't believe any other film comes close. I know a few other photographers that hate Tri-X, but even these people will concede this one point.
I use day-to-day for general purpose photography. I prefer the 24 exposure rolls, since I adjust my camera settings for specific conditions. I push and pull the film all the time, and also use EV corrections, all to meet either lighting conditions, or effect desired.
The film can be extremely grainy. I use experience to either tone-down, or magnify the grain.
If you are new to black and white photography, you will probably want to give Tri-X a try, even if you do not like film grain. The main reason I say this is because the film is very forgiving to underexposure particularly, but also overexposure. Also, it is easy to handle in the darkroom, and is forgiving on that end as well. Can be processed with most any developer available.

Comments about Kodak TX 135-24 Tri-X Pan Black & White Print Film (ISO-400):
Shot some 400 Tri-x while on the yearbook staff my senior year in high school-class of 1981. I remember how you could easily see the grain. I shot a roll this summer after playing around with other brands the last few years. I developed it 1:2 in D76 and had a lab do the prints; and was blown away!!!! Excellent contrast, sharp details, and where's the grain? This is now my choice for B/W film!!!!

Comments about Kodak TX 135-24 Tri-X Pan Black & White Print Film (ISO-400):
I used this film when first learning to develop photos. It is great for beginners; it's easy to use and I even got a few extra shots out of it. It developed very clear, and made it very easy to develop great photos. I would recommend using this film when starting out especially, but it's great for anyone.

Use it with my Minolta xd11. Was introduced to tri-x with the 16mm tri-x shot on a bolex and loved it so much I bought it for my SLR as well. Great range and very forgiving. Possibly the best film for its price. I plan to continue buying Tri-X as my main B&W.

This film was great. It was easy to load in the camera and helped produce great pictures. I was really pleased with the fact that the film did not scratch easily when I developed the negatives. I bought many rolls of this film when I purchased my items and I am very glad that it is a great product.
