Comments about K-Tek K-152CCR 5-Section Klassic Series Lightweight Boompole:

First the bad news. I took my new boompole to an important shoot without testing it: My Bad. The internal cable was DOA. I ran my cable outside the pole and secured it with wire ties, which worked ok, but didn't instill a lot of confidence in the DP. The extra time with my old Rode aluminum pole allowed me to make additional side by side comparisons:
        1) Graphite is way lighter than aluminum and is great for use on long takes.
        2) The side XLR connection will be wonderful in keeping my cable out of the way.
        3) With my old Rode, you run your own XLR down the shaft of the pole. When you extend the pole, the cable gets shorter - NOT GOOD. The cable also had a tendency to get jammed inside the pole. The K-Tec has an internal coiled cable, which eliminates these problems.
        4) Handling noise seems to be reduced with carbon fiber.
The primary disadvantage with the K-Tec is price, but YGWYPF. I don't put too much stock in the DOA piece: It happens. If I get a second bad one I will re-post.

Comments about K-Tek K-152CCR 5-Section Klassic Series Lightweight Boompole:

I bought this boompole as part of a boom kit for my film/video production. It has proven to be a very reliable, sturdy, and well made piece of equimpent. All of the materials used are top-notch. This boom pole extends out to nearly 13 feet, making it the perfect length for most small and medium grade production. The internal XLR cable is of high quality and the connection ends are great. If you're serious about your sound, get this boom pole and don't waste time with inferior poles.

Comments about K-Tek K-152CCR 5-Section Klassic Series Lightweight Boompole:

I ordered a boom setup that inlcuded this K-tek 152CCR pole. I had seen the mistake made of going cheap on the boom (with one of the cheaper B&H kits) and I decided I wanted to buy the best quality product out of the box.

I must say, this is one of the best booms I have ever held. It has such a beefy and sturdy feel, while being very lightweight. All of the components used in this boom pole are top notch. There are no weak links in the materials and parts used by K-tek.

I knew I wanted the side XLR connection, and the quality of that connection is superb. The internal coiled XLR cable is of very high quality. The locking joints are great, they only need to be hand tight to perform properly. It's length is perfect for nearly every job. If you need a longer boom pole than this, chances are you're mounting your mics on a mic-crane.

I see this boom being great for anyone in the documentary, narrative film, commercial, or ENG arenas. It's a great investment and I can tell you from experience: going cheap on your boom will not pay off. Get this boom if your'e serious about your sound.

Comments about K-Tek K-152CCR 5-Section Klassic Series Lightweight Boompole:

I use this pole for film and video production. So far, it's been able to get me the reach I need for those wider shots and the cabling doesn't get caught up inside -- a problem I've encountered with cheapy poles. I haven't had any noise problems with the inner cord either.

The pole is light and well balanced for your close up and medium shots. However, keep in mind that while it is a "lightweight" pole, anything extended fully out with mic on the end is not going to seem so light after a minute or so!

Though it was a pricey investment, I would certainly recommend this durable K-Tek product to anyone working in production. For ENG style it's a bit overkill.

I use this for commercials, documentaries, reality shows and films and it really saves alot of frustration from having your boompole cable coil up and crawl together. This also gives more freedom of movement then regular boom poles. Love it so far, I just hope the cable inside dont start slacking.

Made from super lightweight and durable carbon fiber, this is the best boom pole I've ever had my hands on. Extends nearly 13 ft, so you never have to worry about being caught in the shot. One neat feature of this pole is that when you extend a section to its full length, it gets into a "soft lock" so the internal coiled cable doesn't snap it back. Definitely recommended!
