The JK Audio Innkeeper PBX is a professional telephone / audio interface that converts any multi-line PBX, ISDN or analog telephone into a broadcast, talk-show style console. The Innkeeper PBX connects between the handset and telephone base, incoming calls can be screened using the telephone handset.
A front panel button marked "Broadcast" disables the handset and enables signal flow from the XLR Send input. This provides talk show style control for radio and television broadcast. 16-bit digital processing eliminates the signal "bleed" that occurs over phone lines, isolating the incoming and outgoing audio signal paths. The front panel features individual level control of Send 1, Send 2 and Caller audio signal. The rear of the unit features mic/line switchable XLR input, XLR caller output, 1/8" (3.5mm) mini mix output, 1/8" (3.5mm) mini Send 2 input.

Comments about JK Audio Innkeeper PBX Digital Hybrid Multi-Line Telephone Converter:
We facilitate conferences and meetings and a popular and growing need is that we simulcast the events via the web. One challenge is that we needed a way to have full two way communiation between the speaker (whether in person or from a remote location), live audience, and remote audience. By using a hybrid and mixing board we are able to accomplish this.
In addition to the Innkeeper PBX, we also own a Telos One modem that has been fantastic. An increasing problem we run into is that more and more places no longer have an analog phone line available, which is what the Telos requires. This is where the Innkeeper comes in, as theoretically it doesn't matter what type of phone line the house system has - we should be able to tie into it. The problem is that the Innkeeper seems to be very picky about the type of phone it will work well with. It may work, but the sound quality is marginal at best. It adds a noticable hiss and noise to both sides of the broadcast. When it works well, it works very well. It just doesn't work well very often.
We have our mixing board, both hybrids, wireless mics, etc. all in a portable rack case, and switching between the two hybrids is as simple as swapping two cables. The Telos always sounds better than the Innkeeper, on both ends.
We may be spoiled with the Telos, and maybe the bar and expectations were set a bit too high, but in either case though the Innkeeper works OK, we are shopping for another solution to using a hybrid with IP phones.

Comments about JK Audio Innkeeper PBX Digital Hybrid Multi-Line Telephone Converter:
It was a bit klunky getting it wo work with a quality connection and sound on our VoIP, but after a few adjustments it seems to be working ok. The sound level adjustments took a bit to get just right and it's probably best to check the call quality before trying to record or go live.

Comments about JK Audio Innkeeper PBX Digital Hybrid Multi-Line Telephone Converter:
As a non-technical person who is in the process of creating a podcast series, I found the Innkeeper PBX Telephone Converter to be easy to use with my Marantz digital recorder. In fact, I have found that my phone interviews using the converter to be of higher quality than some of my in-person interviews. A few simple dials to manage, a few simple instructions, a few simple plug-ins and you are ready to call the world. Being able to conduct podcast interviews from my home telephone is great since I can now do them in my pajamas! Thanks for keeping me comfortable JK Audio!

We use this to send audio from a live training session to remote participants, who are attending using a phone bridge and Adobe Connect.
