I haven't needed to use the extension yet but but am ready for the day that I need the extra reach or if somehow a section of the Plamp gets destroyed (stuff happens). Face it, anyone that shoots macro has experienced the frustration associated with wind blown subjects. They even have a multitude of uses in the studio. The Plamp works well as it was intended and has a place in every photographers bag of tricks. Sturdy clamps and an almost infinite range of adjustment make it the perfect tool for steadying flowers, moving unwanted limbs from the picture and holding light reflectors/diffusers. I've tried to "McGyver" my own version but wasn't at all happy with the results. Nothing works as well or is as adaptable as the Plamp. Glad I bought two because one is never enough! Accessories I Recommend:: Use aluminum foil or foam core as a light weight reflector. Use paper or colored gels to diffuse or enhance lighting.

I have used it primarily in Macro photography; I could see other close up uses as well, or even to use to hold shades, reflector, filters, gels. It's simple to use, simple to install, simple to adjust size, position etc. It's a bit 'bouncy', if you are trying to hold something steady, with almost any air movement there may be additional movement of the object.

    Wimberley 1ft. Plamp extension.

    By The Teal Guy.

Comments about Wimberley 1' Plamp Extension:

Not much to it. Adds some extra length to your Plamp when needed. Have several to keep on hand when needed with extension's & several without. (Be aware: I could not snap it onto the main clamp no matter how hard I tried! So I boiled some water in an old open top tea pot, and carefully put the extension end piece into it for several seconds. I quickly dried the inside of it with a piece of paper towel; and with a slight effort, it snapped right into place. Works fine. A good item to have on hand at a very reasonable price!

Comments about Wimberley 1' Plamp Extension:

The Plamp extension is particularly useful when using lenses of longer focal lengths. I found it difficult to attach to the Plamp at first, but got it to snap in eventually. Once it is attached, it's secure.

Comments about Wimberley 1' Plamp Extension:

I wish I had purchased some of the extensions when I ordered the plamp. It is good to have some plamps that are longer than the standard length. I would not go with more than one extension or the plamp is not very sturdy to hold position that you set due to its own weight. I find the extra length invaluable for holding flowers and so on in position when outside when clamping to a tripod leg. The extension needed heating in boiling water to attach it but it was relatively easy to do when heated.

Comments about Wimberley 1' Plamp Extension:

Only received this product (two of them actually) from B&H a couple of weeks ago. Although I haven't used it yet out in the field, it looks quite solid as well as flexible. When folded, it does not need much space for storing or carrying. It is pretty light-weight too.

I believe it will reach my expectations as a solid extension to the mail arm & clamp.

The only reason I am giving 4 stars is because I haven't actually used it in the filed yet.

With the one foot Plamp Extension by Wimberley I am able to hold the stem of roses in the garden for macro photography. You need strong hands to install the one foot segment. A very practical product I would buy again.

I originally purchased several of these items with a Wimberley Plamp. The purpose was to use one to extend the Plamp, and the others as a basis for a LED Macro Light setup I was making.
These items are so useful that I purchased another one on my last B&H order.
