I consider myself an advanced amateur and was looking for an inexpensive set of studio lights to add to my kit so I could shoot in a wider variety of situations. This kit fit my needs perfectly! The bulbs are strong enough to provide that extra light necessary without looking fake and the shoot thru umbrella provides a nice diffused light.I am glad that I ordered extra bulbs though, the first one blew within 5 min of turning it on.[...] We used it just tonight to take a pic of my 10 month old little guy!

This was my first venture into off-camera artificial lighting. I used the light to photograph a small, informal wedding. Everything performed well except the included light bulb. Fortunately, I set the stand up prior to the wedding to make sure I understood how everything worked. The light bulb burned out after about three minutes during the test run, even though I handled it as instructed, wearing a pair of white cotton gloves.

Bought this for a Christmas gift so I cannot comment yet on how well the light kit performs (hence the 3 stars). However this being my first purchase from B&H, I was pleasantly surprised at how well this was packaged for shipping. Extra precaution was taken to make sure this was packaged to arrive in one piece and for that reason alone, I would definitely order from B&H again. Quick shipping too!

We plan to use this for video blog type recordings, and for interviews. I've used it so far for one 10-min interview in a small academic office. It made a beautiful light on the interviewee. I felt that it was pretty cheap and works great. It's easy to use, of course. Just turn it on. Setup takes a few minutes, however. And the components are a little large and unwieldy. I'm concerned about breaking the bulb as I haul the thing from building to building - if I can find a bag that will safely hold (most) components I definitely will purchase it.

This light doesn't take up too much room at all. Th stand stores well behind my door, and the lamp stores in my closet easily. I use it for photography in my bedroom. Perfectly bright.

Comments about Impact One Floodlight Umbrella Kit:
I bought this as a 'just in case' for a major event I was shooting. I was going to use it to illuminate video for "in the wings" interviews. I ended up using it to replace my various lighting configurations that included [@] products and duct tape. It works well. It does what it is supposed to do; just keep in mind the cost you paid and you'll be satisfied. It does seem a little big to pack in a gig bag; it's much longer than my tripods and similar gear, so I had to go up a size in duffle to accommodate it (most people won't travel with this anyway).

I bought this Umbrella Lamp becaus I live a dark apartment and wanted to take some portraits of the family . It was the perfect amount of light I needed for the living room , very easy to set up and take down and spread the light evenly and very soft . I plan on buying a second one in the near future
Comments about Impact One Floodlight Umbrella Kit:
I bought this for use in my home "studio" for taking monthly pictures of my twin girls. Very easy setup, no instructions needed (and none provided). Breaks down to very managable size for storage or travel if needed.
I only had one problem with it and that was that one of the thumbscrews for adjusting the angle of the lamp would not clamp. The threaded insert probably wasn't seated properly in the plastic. Two M6 washers and a M6x1 wing nut from your local hardware store will fix it and maintain the tool-less adjustability. Based on reviews it doesn't seem like it's a common problem but if it happens, it's an easy fix.
I will be buying another soon.

I use two of these kits without the umbrellas with a fluorescent Eiko bulb for general constant lighting in my art studio. They're great. When I shoot images of my paintings, I have used both the Eiko bulbs and the standard tungsten with umbrellas and get great results from both.

Comments about Impact One Floodlight Umbrella Kit:
I'm a hobbyist photographer that needed a cheap lighting solution for my first "real" photoshoot. I picked up two of these lights, and borrowed a boom light to complete the setup. These lights were easy to setup, provided an amazing light spread with the umbrellas, and are fairly sturdy.
My main complaints are that the included lights burned out very quickly, and the umbrellas diffused the light more than I would have liked. I replaced the bulbs with a couple 250W, and had no troubles the rest of the shoot. The umbrellas... well, I wasn't expecting something terribly great for the price, just something to get the job done, which these did (I originally priced out umbrellas that had a removable, reflective backing to hopefully get better illumination on the subject, but were too expensive for my budget.)

I use this for a basic one-light set-up for my photos. I like that it wasn't too expensive, as I'm just venturing into the world of studio lighting. I do wish it was a bit more sturdy, but some simple sand bags will fix that.
