Comments about Photographers' Formulary Liquid Cyanotype Printing Kit:
THIS PROCESS IS SIMPLE, WITH GREAT RESULTS. I'm a photography major and as a part of my final graduating portfolio I am making cyanotype printed t-shirts. Before I printed my personal work, I decided to make a couple t-shirts and a pair of shorts during my trial and error stage. I thought that this process would be harder than it was but I'm excited about the results. I WOULD DEFINITELY RECOMMEND THIS TO A FRIEND!!!!

I am a high school student in ct. I waned to experiment with cyanotype printing. After doing my research I decided on what chemicals I should get. This kit comes with every thing you need to make prints. it was cheap and easy to use. it is perfect for someone who likes 35mm or any type of traditional film this is the next step in printing. I had a great time with this kit and it gave me room to experiment with different paper types and solutions. I would recommend this to anybody interested in photography

Comments about Photographers' Formulary Liquid Cyanotype Printing Kit:
The product is great for people who are starting to develop film for the first time, this gives good trainning as in working in dark enviorments and using chemistry techniques to develop an image . I have also found for those who want to mount to a carboard box with lens , or "camera obscura", when mixing the solutions make sure you add a tap bit more of green solution A and little less of Solution B and on top of this mix hydrogen peroxide (from your local store)as well. Then apply to photographic type paper or Photo Glossy plus.Using a brush or a rod to spill the solution to the paper !!MAKE SURE ITS EVEN STROKES!!! then let to dry in a dark enviorment over night and wake up to find the paper greenish to blue tones . Then after this apply the paper to camera obscura and make sure to check if the lens is in focus via the papers own transperancy from the back. Now to play the waiting game!! Wait from 2 hours to 3 , at times even 1 hour does the job depending on how strong this mixture is you can adjust the sensitivity as well!!! The adding of the Hydrogen Peroxide gives you nice even midtones and shadows , so that when you scan it, converting it to a negative will show its colors :D

I spent a sunny afternoon making prints. The first couple didn't turn out very well, but with some trial and error they're beautiful. Great Kit, I'll definitely buy this again when I run out.

I was introduced to this product while taking an Alternative Processes class. Since then I have been in love with cyanotypes and curse cloudy days. I like exposing on different types of paper best. Also, investigating different types of tones on your cyanotype will blow your mind!
This is a great product! It is easy to use, easy to clean up and works on just about anything. It also lasts for a long time.
The only downside is that this stuff stains everything! So, make sure you are careful with your application and thorough with your clean up. Do not mess up your good clothes!

Comments about Photographers' Formulary Liquid Cyanotype Printing Kit:
Although it's a little more costly than buying powdered chemicals and mixing it yourself, I like not having to worry about breathing in chemical dust.
I haven't used all of it yet, but I feel like it will not run out after 24 8"x10" prints like it says. I coated at least 20 sheets of paper of various sizes and only used less than 1/4 of the product. I made sure to wear gloves because there is no way you will not come into contact with the solution. I am paranoid that I got some solution on the table/floor, so if you want to avoid that, cover your work space and drying space well before you begin.
With only one coat of the solution, I acheived rich blue tones after exposing the paper to direct sunlight. I look forward to trying fabric next.

I purchased because I thought it would be an easy way to make Cyanotypes and see weather I would eventally investigate the traditional methods.
This worked for me and I will start making my own emulsions.

This was the first time I'd done Cyanotype. The other reviewers were correct. This is an easy method that just takes a little finessing as far as getting your transparencies and exposure time right. Note: If you are going turn a digital photo or a scanned photo into a transparency, be sure to invert it in Photoshop so that it becomes a "negative."

Comments about Photographers' Formulary Liquid Cyanotype Printing Kit:
This is an excellent product for experimenting with photograms of plants & objects and/or contact printing, I use it with a foam brush and cotton watercolour paper finding it to still be both economical and easy. So easy to use I show my friends once and now we all do it.
This is so easy fun and arty I am surprised more of the people I know don't already do it.
On the other hand it could also be considered a little messy and requires some fiddling and dark drying space.

Comments about Photographers' Formulary Liquid Cyanotype Printing Kit:
I bought this looking for an easy, inexpensive way to play with photography, and it delivered! I went to a copy shop and got some digital photos turned into negative transparencies to make my prints, which I think is what a lot of people do (just place the transparency directly on top of the paper). They can take a while (up to 10 minutes in full sunlight) to develop sometimes but they usually only take a couple minutes and it's certainly easy to work with because they aren't extremely sensitive to light like regular photo paper, and when they are developed, you finish the process by just washing the prints in water! Each bottle in the package is 1/2 liter, and the description said it should make about 25 8X10 prints. I've found that with a 1/2 teaspoon of each bottle I can get the solution painted on three pieces of 9X12 watercolor paper. By my calculations that's about 600 prints!

Comments about Photographers' Formulary Liquid Cyanotype Printing Kit:
I mixed up a batch and used it on silk. After washing and drying the scarf, I was disappointed at the lack of vivid contrast. I re-washed it for another 5 minutes and after it dried it looked exactly the way I had anticipated!!! I then made another batch and painted numerous sheets of water color paper. I discovered(through trial and error) that the exposure time was VERY brief...like 2 minutes, tops. I am so pleased with this kit....and a little really goes a LONG way...so I find it to be a great bargain as well.

This is a pretty simple way to make cyanotype prints on all kinds of material. Get creative and dye your own fabrics or stick to the simple paper format route. There are even additional chemicals included to increase the contrast of your prints.

Comments about Photographers' Formulary Liquid Cyanotype Printing Kit:
This is a very simple system of mixing equal parts A and B. I have the freedom to coat pretty much anything that absorbs liquid and expose it to the sun. The possibilities are endless because a little goes a long way. The only drawbacks are it would be better if you can create a UV light tight space to avoid exposure while drying your coated items. Oh and before you travel with it, make sure the bottles are secured because some leakage has occurred.
