Works very well, could really ask for more, carbon fiber would be nice though. Price was right for an aluminum pod though.

Comments about Giottos MM9170 4-Section Pro Monopod:
Priced right for me (e.g. carbon is better but too pricey for my usage). Comfortable grip, simple and fast to extend and collapse. Right height for me (important to make sure it extends as much as you need it)
I use this at my kids sporting events (e.g. all weekend tournaments/shows) where my arm was getting tired of holding my Canon 5D with 400x telephoto lens. Used it the first weekend I got it and was extremely happy.
Need separate head to be able to easily switch between vertical and horizontal orientation.

I have had several monopads but this meets all my requirements. When you wrap your hand around this monopod you know that you are holding something sturdy. Large diameter feels fine. I use both a Nikon f/2.8 300mm and Nikon f/4 200-400 lens (one at a time) in front of a D3 for news sports co

Comments about Giottos MM9170 4-Section Pro Monopod:
Purchased this monopod to pair with my Manfrotto 234RC Swivel/Tilt Head. The combination was a match made in heaven. The monopod has a solid, sturdy feel. Being 6'2" tall, with camera mounted, the height is perfect. The diameter of the shaft feels great to the touch giving me plenty of control with my camera. The wrist strap on the monopod gives extra security while holding the monopod. The height adjustment works great even in a lower position. Nice that you receive the shoulder strap nylon carrying bag that is included in the price.

Comments about Giottos MM9170 4-Section Pro Monopod:
I use the MM 9170 for outdoor nature shooting. It's much lighter and quicker than my tripod and is great to have handy for stabilizing those longer unplanned shots. The perfect fit for those informal walkabouts when a tripod is just too much to lug around. Works great with my Canon 100-400 lens. I use this monopod in conjunction with a quick release that makes it easy to snap on & off when I need to.

I use this monopod with a nikon 200-400 vr lens from the cockpit of my kayak. up till now i handheld the lens with varying degrees of sucess. the portable monopod give me much more keepers and it does not take up much space. I also love the foot of the monopod which stays flat against the boat bottom when i tilt the pod a bit. no complaints up to now
