International Orders*As usual, the Novoflex ClassicBall 5 ballhead has a unique design against the market, and is conceived, designed and manufactured with the needs of the user foremost in mind.
The ClassicBall is the world's first ballhead three vertical 90° openings for the ball neck, instead of the usual one or two. This increases the flexibility of the photographer. The head also features a panning base with an independent lock. Both locking mechanism controls(for the panning base and for the main ball) are captive, and cannot fall off accidentally.
Novoflex's AFC (advanced friction control) system provides precise repeatable, defined friction presets suitable for all your various camera setups. The blue, horizontally-aligned friction control ring has five preset friction settings to allow rock-steady positioning. The stepped increases in friction are sensibly progressive, so that nearly any combination of gear will be ideally suited to be moved easily when you move it but unable to move upon its own when your hand is away. Additionally, the friction control was deliberately designed so that the setting cannot be changed unless the ball is locked-this precludes sudden movement of the camera from setting too little friciton, since you'll have to consciously unlock the ball every time after making a friction adjustment.
The ClassicBall 5 is amongst the select few ballheads which are so finely produced as to not require lubrication. A 'dry ball' attracts no dirt, dust or debris and generally requires no maintenance. It is also much more difficult to manufacture, since its machining tolerances are so much finer than a conventional ballhead with lubricant upon the ball.

Comments about Novoflex ClassicBall 5 Ballhead:
Having been able to get a few different brands on trial basis this head is my choice. The very first impression is the absolute smooth movement
combined with a firm lockdown at the point aimed, that is no change takes place.
I use a 5DII the longest glass is 560mm, this head copes with ease at setting two.
Unlike most heads there is no lubrication required, one less problem. One issue I have is the lack of panorama marking , I would have thought this could have been provided.Base rotation locks well.Perhaps more costly than some but I would purchase this head again.

Comments about Novoflex ClassicBall 5 Ballhead:
I use this mainly with my largest Gitzo tripod, when using larger cameras (EOS 1Ds Mk III) and lenses (up to Canon EF 500mm f/4). It can easily hold these, but be careful to support large lenses properly when you take the lock off. A gimbal type head works better for very large lenses but the classic ball 5 will still hold them - no problem.
This ball head locks very easily and very securely. Much, much better than the "Magicball" type heads from Novoflex. It is also superior in my opinion to the Arca Swiss Ball head that I also own. The arca swiss monoball can wander a little when pressure is applied after locking whereas the Novoflex will not budge. The lever locking is also much easier to use than arca's screw type lock.
