Constructed well - xlr input works fine. Here is the one flaw - on expansion, always seemed to be lost on retightening. So, I would need more length, loosen and pull out - then holding it firmly use other hand to tighten - seemed to be tighting too long - then tighten the other direction etc. Maybe I just need more practice.

Comments about K-Tek KE-69CC Avalon Series Aluminum Boompole with Internal Coiled XLR Cable:

Small light weight and convenient. worth the money. Only thing is that it comes with a standard video mount, or in audio world the "european" mount so you have to get an adapter from Standard US audio mount to european (video) mount to attach shock mount. not carbon or graphite, but super light for aluminum.

Comments about K-Tek KE-69CC Avalon Series Aluminum Boompole with Internal Coiled XLR Cable:

I didn't realize how short this boompole would be until it came. Without the putting the operator in an uncomfortable, stretching position, the length is only useful for a handful of applications. Before purchasing this product, check the length for yourself, it could be really useful for some but for me it was too short.

Otherwise, the quality is very good. It seems very well made, strong and the XLR connections are very secure.

I bought this boom about a year ago and it was just lost by the airlines. I will buy it again. It's lightweight, but strong. The internal cable doesn't get clogged up. For the money you can't beat it. We use it for audio recording for video cameras.

I teach a video production class for middle school students. As part of my curriculum I try to teach when it's appropriate to use a built-in mic and when it's best to use an external mic. More often than not, we are using external mics. Part of my budget this year allowed me to get a shotgun mic, boompole and an XLR adapter with phantom power.
