Celestron manufactures the Ultima line of prismatic spotting scopes in 65mm, 80mm & 100mm varietals to suit your needs. The larger two can also be had with ED (extra-low dispersion) glass elements, an expensive product which produces a marked improvement in the color fidelity, resolution and edge delineation of the scope's imagery. All the Ultima line are mated to an eyepiece and render views which are both rightside up and laterally correct to the world, making them good for both terrestrial and celestial observing. All Ultimas are waterproof, making them more robust than ever before. Celestron surely is delivering exceptional value.
The Ultimas now offer the choice between 45° angled viewing or straight viewing as you prefer. Most users will prefer angled scopes because they are both simple to use for birds perched high above the viewer as well as easily simultaneously shared amongst users of differing heights. But some will prefer the straight viewing models, for these are much easier to use when hunting down the object of interest in the first place. Straight viewing models are also usually a bit lighter, brighter and less expensive. The choice is yours.
Certain Celestron products include their wonderful "No Fault" warranty coverage, which assures that your binoculars will be repaired or replaced at Celestron's option for as long as you own them-no questions asked! The only requirements on the user's end are to ship the binoculars(at the user's cost) to Celestron with a proof of purchase and a check or money order for $25 to cover the costs of inspection, shipping and handling. This warranty service is valid only for USA and Candadian citizens purchasing from an authorized Celestron dealer.

My celestron ultima 80 is used for high power shooting events, specifically across the course matches with positions as 200,300,and 600yds. The overall build quality of the unit is much better than those costing the same or even more. It's sturdy, well put together and carries a great mfg warranty. The optics are ok. I have used much more expensive optics, and sorry this scope does NOT compare.... Not even close ( sorry to all those that say it does). But, for an entry level price it is VERY acceptable and superior to many even at twice the price. .22 cal holes are visible at 200 yds ( provided you have a stable tripod) and scoring disks are easily seen at 600yds without zoom extensively. Mirage IS seen, but is not as easily read as with bight quality optics. For the price of [$] it is an excellent entry level scope that will serve a shooter well until the decision or the cash is available to upgrade. As a bonus, when upgrading you will get most of your money back out of the scope by selling online auction site

Comments about Celestron Ultima 80 3.1"/80mm Spotting Scope Kit:
Purchased the scope for my wife to use while bird watching. Been out with it once so far, and after a short learning curve, it was very good for the purpose. Also tried out the built-in T mount, got some great photos that would have been impossible with any of my other lenses. It's not a $1,000 Swarovski, and anyone that compares the two is just ignorant. For the price, the quality of the unit, and the quality of the images, are quite good. My only real problem with the whole thing is that neither the front or rear lens caps will stay on the unit. Both fall off if you touch the unit, leave it alone, or turn your back. I think both will be getting Cap Keepers pretty soon.

Comments about Celestron Ultima 80 3.1"/80mm Spotting Scope Kit:
This scope replaces a cheap Bushnell scope so not a fair comparison. I use this for wildlife and bird watching. Clear optics and smooth focus. I'm really happy with the 80mm lenses as it helps when the light is marginal. Even at dusk and using the maximum magnification the detail is adequate to easily count points on a buck 800 yards away. I could watch a bluebird at 100 yards pick bugs off the branch it was sitting on. This one's a keeper.

Good product for the price. Clear at 100, 200, 300 and 400 yards starts to get a little fuzzy at 450 yards. But did not cost a whole bunch of money

Comments about Celestron Ultima 80 3.1"/80mm Spotting Scope Kit:
Bought for bird & nature viewing, performs very well according to available light. Zoom and focus are smooth, low light pick up is great, can differentiate cockatoo species in same flock at 800 yards + close up focus and resolution is very good for finches down to about 7 yards.tripod is ok & better than the expensive one I don't own! Great value even to ship to Australia, well done bh photo, great service.

I purchased the Ultima 80 3.1/80 as a gift for a friend who shares my passion for black-powder shooting. I unpacked to check the condition and was struck immediately by its size and robust construction. Then I checked the optics-brilliant!
No obvious spherical or chromatic aberration. The huge primary lens has an excellent light gathering capacity. At high magnification the image remains clean and crisp.the view piece, which is received separately,is of good quality and has an optimal viewing angle for my purposes.
Though there is an expected drop on light intensity at high magnification, targets at 300 yards remain easy to read.
There is only one problem- that is I want one too and have spent my allowance for the month!

Comments about Celestron Ultima 80 3.1"/80mm Spotting Scope Kit:
Scope seems to be of very good quailty. It has good heft and the assembly seems precise. More than one might expect for the price. There are much better scopes on the market but their cost is 3 or 4 times as much (or more) and for most users, the image you will see with this scope will blow you away.

Comments about Celestron Ultima 80 3.1"/80mm Spotting Scope Kit:
I mostly use this product to look at the sky at night. It is amazing for closer objects. Jupiter is very visible, even its moons can be seen, although it appears to be very small. I assume you can upgrade the eyepiece to a stronger zoom, however. The product appears to be very durable, but hard to control on a standard tripod. I'd recommend a SLIK PRO-340DX TRIPOD w/504QF head, although this tripod is a bit short for me.
