The 8x21 UCF R binocular from Pentax features a clever dual-axis body design. Unlike common dual-hinge optic, the UCF R's eyepieces move simultaneously when adjusting them for viewing. This type of construction makes setting the binocular up a breeze, and it adds a significant amount of strength and stability to the entire optic.
Sporting a rubber-covered housing and sliding eye cups, the UCF R provides a secure grip and a customized view. The optical system consists of a pair of BAK4 roof prisms in a compact configuration, and super multicoated lenses for optimum viewing at all times. The 8x21 UCF R has an entry-level price-point, yet it's durable, easy to carry and use, and it delivers excellent viewing performance.

First of all let me say that I am very picky consumer and easily get disappointed if product is not perfect. After reading this sentence look at the rating I gave this product... correct, 5 stars. It all started with hockey game I was going to attend and I needed a compact binocular that will fit into my pocket, won't be heavy, will be easy and fun to use. My first purchase was compact binocular of one of other brands and at first look it was okay, but when I went to the game I was extremely disappointed, everything was darkened as if I was wearing sunglasses, also some weird haze was around the lights, I had to return it. Then I bought another compact from other popular brand, and was disappointed again, same problem, not as severe as with first purchase, but yet again I did not like it and had to return it again, third time I went to other manufacturer and purchased another compact again, guess what?, disappointment again, this time one of the lenses was defected, it had small bump on it so when you look through binocular you would see large dark spot in the middle, I thought it's just a dirt that stuck on the lens, but no, it was actual glass that sort of melted and bubbled up, I do not even understand how that is possible, isn't manufacturer suppose to polish all lens and would have seen that defect as quality control stage, it was right there in the middle of outer lens? Anyways, after being disappointed three times in one week I decided that I will make last call, I would purchase this one, and if it at-least okay, I will just keep it. But, when this thing arrived I was surprised right away, it turned out to be even smaller then other three binoculars, definitely has better design and finish, and overall feels just right. So I went to park to check it in action, turtles, birds, squirrels, distant vegetation, it all was visible very clear and sharp and was very easy and quick to focus. I was very happy that day, later on, I went to another hockey game and this little binocular did it's job flawlessly, easy to focus, very clear, no darkening effect at all great sharpness. You won't go wrong by buying this product and will be very happy.

We bought two pairs and immediately flew to Berlin for two weeks of museum-hopping and concerts. We saw several operas and the binocular were easy to use and very good. They even worked well at the Lady Gaga concert! The only problem is that the lens holders (not the lens caps) were loose and came off one set. We had to look everywhere for them one night. Unfortunately, we didn't get back to New York for two weeks so we weren't able to take the one pair back to B and H, since they will only take stuff back for ten days. Bummer.

Super easy to use. The size is perfect to carry in backpack or handbag. Colors are crisp, clear and bright. This is the fourth pair I am buying - friends and family who use them, love them, so they get them as a gift. For the price, I don't think you can do better.

I will be using these binoculars on safari later this year. I needed a light weight pair that would swallow distance. These do the trick.

It's compact and practical binocular, and my wife loves it. She uses it during archery for targets. It's a Pentax.

Comments about Pentax 8x21 UCF R Binocular:
I bought these as opera glasses for my girlfriend, who's an opera fan, and she reports good things about them. We haven't tried them at serious outdoor ranges but for short distances you get a very clear image --- and it can almost overcome my serious esophoria if I don't wear glasses.

Comments about Pentax 8x21 UCF R Binocular:
I bought these Pentax because I wanted an inexpensive and compact set of binoculars for traveling and sporting events. They greatly outperform other compacts I've tried, and are almost as good as my $200 8x42 Nikons! I haven't taken them to a game yet, but I just did a road trip up Highway 1/US 101 and used them quit a bit. They adjust very smoothly too, which is great for trading back and forth with my wife.

This are great inexpensive binocuolars. The optics are very bright and amazingly sharp. They are very lightweight. Focusing wheel is smooth.
What I did not like is that rubber eye cups are quite loose and fall off easily.

Went to the store during my visit to NYC. The stuff was very helpful and recommended us this binocular. Bought it and took it with us for the rest of the sightseeing. View from the top of Empire state building couldn't be prettier!

Bought for a concert and they were excellent. Far higher quality viewing than "opera glasses" the the low price was incredible for the quality of the view. Excellent binos for your coat pocket or to leave on a counter or in the car. Really incredible value.

Comments about Pentax 8x21 UCF R Binocular:
I bought these binoculars for some upcoming travel. I wanted something that was small, 7 - 10x power, and less than $. The helpfull associate grabbed this pair right away addressing the clarity as the best in my price range. I tried them out around the store and the image was definetly clearer or as clear as the higher priced models. They fit in my purse and are small enough to comfortably fit my face. Because of this the image comes together as one isntead of seeing both circles. I think they are a great first pair of binoculars and will suite my needs perfectly.
