I bought two of these because I own ME 66 mic and had this softie size previously purchased. It worked amaizingly good under 40 k/h wind and I liked the porous material under the fur that possibly traps lots of wind so I went for my other two ecm1 sony guns.

I am using this with the short shotgun mic from Shure on my Canon XF100. It's just short enough to keep out of the viewfinder, even when using the WD58H wide angle lens.

We purchased three for use with our Audio-Technica AT875R 7" SHORT CONDENSER SHOTGUN MICS - AUAT875R. So far so good. They help to cut down wind noise and work perfectly for run and gun work.

With the RYS10M completely enveloped onto the Sony's factory shotgun mic, I zoomed out and saw no fur in the shot which is good. Haven't used it outdoors in the element as of yet but assume will work with winds under 20-25 mph. I was worried of the extra weight on the factory Sony mic clamp but appears fine so far. I like the collapsible comb/brush that came with it as well. Rycote's factory tag (for advertising) sticks out too far but have plans for putting my own company logo onto it soon. Will buy one for my NXCAM next month. Thanks Rycote and BH.

Used with the on camera mic on my Sony Z7U.
I like the tight fit. The camera's supplied foam with a fur cover could slip off.
Have to make sure the the mic's pressure gradient holes don't stick out the back of the softie where wind can find it's way in.
It's a bit heavy for the Z7's mount, have to be careful that screen does not appear in wide angle shots.

Bought this Rycote Softie Windscreen for my Sony Z5U after I lost the foam windscreen that came with the original microphone for this camera (ECM XM-1). But watch out, since there are different kinds of Softies from Rycote. The one I got was the RYS10M, M standing for medium length fur. It will get in the way when you fully zoom out (noticeable vignetting) unless you position the microphone as far back as possible (it's a question of gaining a few millimeters) or manually "trim" the fur. Other than that, it's a quality piece of equipment that you won't loose because it's solidly attached to the microphone.

This replaced the standard Sony foam covering that came on the mic with our DSR-400 camera.
It fits almost perfectly, and helps eliminate wind noise.
