I use this in a Photoflex softbox with the Photoflex speed ring. Works good except BE SURE TO OPEN THE BARN DOORS ALL THE WAY. If you don't, it will heat up and start warping the housing. Also, it is difficult to get the power connector plugged in because it's too close to the speed ring. That is a Photoflex issue, not Lowel. This light is also good for general bounce off a ceiling/wall, etc. Only negative is that the aluminum mount inside that holds the bulb could be a little heavier, as it tends to spread with the heat and pressure of the bulb pushing outward.

The main thing is this -- for a few cents less you can find the same setup here at B&H WITH the bulb ... there is an extra L at the end of that model name. Get that one! Don't make the mistake I did. This is the only reason I would not recommend this to a friend, or not give it 5 stars -- it does not have the bulb -- you can order it with the bulb and essentially get an extra bulb free even if you already have bulbs.

Comments about Lowel Tota-Light Tungsten Flood Light (120-240VAC):
This light is great for raising the ambient light of a room (bouncing it off the ceiling), lighting up a large background or evenly lighting a green screen.
It's BRIGHT but also throws light everywhere. The key to this light is learning how to control it. The umbrella is a good place to start as it does remove the harsh unflattering quality of the light when it's pointed directly at a subject. Also, the tota-shades do a good job of shaping the light and controlling the spill and can be used in conjunction with the umbrella.
The light gets HOT...like all tungsten lights...but since there isn't a lot of housing, it will burn you in a matter of seconds. However, it is extremely bright and compact.
The build quality is fair to good. It's not going to take the beating of an Arri or Mole (not that those are similar in quality) but you can't beat the size and price. If you need a compact light with a lot of horsepower...this is it.

We mounted 15 of these lights to a grid and they have evenly flooded a 40' x 40' space, including white cyc wall (15' high) and floor. Super smooooooth!

Used this light for both an ambient light to brighten up a room on a video shoot as well as for lighting up a Savage white paper backdrop. The 750W and broad throw were excellent for both uses.

Comments about Lowel Tota-Light Tungsten Flood Light (120-240VAC):
I bought two of these lights as back lights for my video set and they work great! The amount of light they put if is phenomenal for the price. I searched and searched and searched for a good set of lights and I found them when I bought these. They do run really hot, so you need to make sure to be very careful with them and read the instruction son where you can and cannot place the doors.

Be careful how you handle this baby. I really like the nice long heavy duty cable and the switch is nice and solid. The protective screen is great for keeping out all the ladybugs and Stick bugs that are coming out this time of year. Good deal.
Comments about Lowel Tota-Light Tungsten Flood Light (120-240VAC):
These are the first video lights I've purchased and so glad I decided on these. Such a simple setup and can travel with these anywhere! Was able to keep two of these in my carry on luggage on a recent flight. I use these with both a Canon 5D mkii and with a Panasonic HMC70 video cam. A great light to start with. And as other have said, yes, they do get very hot. When I have a break in the action, i just flip them off so they can cool down a bit. Really nice cables with these light with an on/off switch conveniently built into the cord. Get it!!

Comments about Lowel Tota-Light Tungsten Flood Light (120-240VAC):
My daughter needed a new light and fast. A good friend suggested that I call customer service and I am so glad I did. The support guy listened carefully to what I needed and what our price range was and offered two options. I took a leap and went with Tota. This little thing puts out a ton of light for being so small and lightweight. In fact, I ordered a white umbrella today to filter but it was perfect to eliminate backlight shadows. I love that it is so lightweight since we have been working with some older, bulky lights. I wish I had ordered the stand cause we had to find and rig one up since the one I had wasn't sturdy enough to handle the way the light sits off balance on the stand.

Comments about Lowel Tota-Light Tungsten Flood Light (120-240VAC):
This was my second Tota-light kit purchase. I have used the first one for a year with no problems in creating quick lighting set ups that greatly improved the quality of my video. The second light has been a significant step up. I should have bought two to start with. With the pair of Tota lights, I can easily light interviews and others shots for short documentaries. I highly recommend this product.

Comments about Lowel Tota-Light Tungsten Flood Light (120-240VAC):
Have been using this light kit for over a month and LOVE them. I've been shooting paintings with them and the finished product I've been getting is great! They're halogen lights and I had to do a bit of research about what white balance to use with them. Once I figured that out and made the adjustments, every photo I've taken with them makes the artwork POP with amazing color!
They get hot after about 30 minutes or so, as do all studio lights. I also have the umbrellas for diffusing the lights, and it's great! Super easy to assemble with the stands.
Very, very pleased!!!

My second one, My First Tota is still working. If you need a light that is quick to set up this is it. I love the fact you can lamp it with different wattage lamps, and you can fins the lamps anywhere. I always have a Tota in my kit.

Comments about Lowel Tota-Light Tungsten Flood Light (120-240VAC):
Great compact light, especially for the price. I find the light is harsh when used directly so i usually bounce it off a wall if i want to make a room brighter or i will use a tota umbrella if i'm using it as a key light. hard to control, lots of spill so not the best light to use in all situations.

Comments about Lowel Tota-Light Tungsten Flood Light (120-240VAC):
I bought the Lowel Tota-light as part of the Lowel Interview Three-Light Kit (w/Soft Case); do a search for "B&H # LOOTK". My particular focus of use will be for independent filmmaking and photography work as well.
I'm very satisifed with the Tota's quality build at this price-point and its variable and broad light output depending on which bulb you use up to 750 watts. The Tota will most cetainly fill up a room with nice ambient light. Very, very bright.
I bought the 4-piece Tota-Shades accessory which clip onto the Tota's reflectors; they serve as extra bardoors/flags to help shape your light better.

I use this for Video Interviews, corporate video & youtubing.
I really light how bright and even this light is. Unlike other people said the stand is very nice and strong for its size.
I wish it came with a bag or case but heck it was a great price! Thank you B&H!
