Comments about Manfrotto 173B Mini Boom Arm Only - Black:
I use this for both lighting support and mic support. I've only mounted smaller LED light panels and shotgun mics on this boom, but it works great.
I use the additional 3 pound weight for counterbalancing and they make a great little system.
It has thread adapters at both ends, which is nice.

It's okay - not as rigid as other boom arms but this one doesn't cost much - it's just a little extra reach.

Comments about Manfrotto 173B Mini Boom Arm Only - Black:
This is a great boom arm for using with strobist-style lighting. It's about 1 meter long, strong, but lightweight. With a lightstand and the right brackets it gives you a lot of flexibility getting your flash where you want it. More solid than the illustration might suggest.
