Questions? Ask our experts:

The Sony RM-BR300 is an advanced remote control unit for the BRC-300, EVI-D100, EVI-D70 and EVI-D30 cameras all while using the VISCA control system. A joystick controller gives precision camera moves and focus adjustments. For the BRC-300, up to 6 preset camera and lens positions can be programmed for immediate recall. The other camera models have up to 16 preset positions.

Controller operations include adjustments for auto-focus, white balance, the auto-exposure feature and backlight compensation. A tally lamp feature is also possible in these systems. The remote control features are performed using the standard VISCA protocol. An 8-pin to 8-pin DIN RS-232C cable required for the control functions is included. This controller can perform these functions with up to seven cameras in a daisy-chain configuration.

Comments about Sony RM-BR300 Joystick Remote Control Panel:

After using the control daily for six months, then weekly for 12 months, and repeating that cycle, we are having problems with the buttons that switch between cameras. The selector for our most used camera, #2, tends to stick on. I have six of these and two are showing the same issue.

We are trying to find a fix less expensive than replacing the entire unit. But I am concerned with the quality of the components Sony used at a point in the device that is bound to be used heavily...and repeatedly.

Comments about Sony RM-BR300 Joystick Remote Control Panel:

We just purchased this and 2 Sony EVID70's.We use them in our worship center for our services. I was shocked at the simplicity of this product and how it opperates. Sometimes the joystick can be a little hard to opperate, But it just takes a little bit getting use to. We have utalized the different preset options for the cameras. That we we get in the area we want to be then we just fine tune it with the joystick. Some people have said that the buttons are loud when you click them. We don't think that they are loud at all. We have an Ederol V-8 video mixer that the video signal feeds into and the buyttons on that are the same.

Purchased this unit to Control EVI-D70 cameras (3), works great!

Our application is for event videography c/w large screen projection. worked like a charm!

We are considering purchasing a sceond unit to control 3 more cameras. this would give us more flexibility.

Comments about Sony RM-BR300 Joystick Remote Control Panel:

Controls 3 PTZ cameras in church Sanctuary.Does the job needed. Users figured it out quickly. Lighted keys is great feature in low light situations.BUT That "plastic" sounding key-click is just dumb. Controls are slightly touchy but that may be a camera deficiency. Pretty pricey compared to computer software I was using for under [$] but needed to go stand-alone.

This unit was used to control 2 EVID70 cameras. One of the great features for this unit is the ability to control my cameras via the RS422 control. I will buy this item as long as it is available for future projects.
